Bruce Hornsby was pretty sick but the crowd was really next level bad. Alot of just full volume conversations and drunk yelling. Have to imagine hes pretty epic at a normal indoor show. Just elderly people zooted out of their brain tonight. Vega was truly terrible at points too truly bizarre set.
I'm With Her were real good on friday and the crowd was just a total 180 from tonight. Assume its an age thing. Disagree that this set up is good tho. They gotta figure out a way to divide people who want to be at a show and people who want to talk

The funniest part of the set was when he said "I wrote this song with the great Justin Vernon of the great Bon Iver" and the crowd was just absolutely silent and he went "Oh so its this kind of crowd, that's too bad"

The man next to me who had a deviated septum and was black out drunk who did not recognize "the way it is" throughout the whole 10 minute jam that proceeded it despite the fact that it returned to the riff multiple times. He just kept guessing completely wrong songs. It was a nightmare.

Some of the worst crowds I've ever seen have been at Space. People that go to these shows are largely locals and its like the one time a year they get out and they can't handle any amount of liquor and they just lose it.

You can order pizza from the pizza place attached to Space and eat it during the show. Some of their pizzas straight up smell like vomit though. Been stuck behind some people eating one of those during a show and it’s been really offputting. Space is also where a lot of white suburban people who go to like one concert a year go and they drink way too much and can’t control themselves. I’ve seen white women twerking onstage during blues acts, guy in an army uniform throw up all over the hallway the bathrooms are in, all kinds of weird shit. They have these holiday sales for the shows that are selling terribly and those are always full of that kind of crowd.

we won tix to the Faint on friday at HoB and it was really really great! both the openers were meh
place was pretty empty (they closed off upstairs and still had the high tops out on the pit floor, just roped off, so maybe the emptiest ive seen it? idk paradise lost was small to)
the hundred or so people that were there were going off. it was a really fun crowd and good setlist

Rolling Stones sounded incredible Saturday night, but the stage setup was kind of meh. I've only been to two stadium shows, but I vastly prefer having the stage in the center of the field as opposed to the opposite end. It was difficult to make out much more than the screens from the other end of the field - they had a catwalk that went out the 50 yard line but it was used sparingly. Just kind of a lazy setup. Otherwise Mick Jagger was terrific and the setlist was more or less what you'd expect from 2019 Rolling Stones. Maybe I'm naive in expecting more from this large of a show.

Girlfriend and I saw Brandi Carlile again last night. Surprisingly, it was just her and the two twin brother guitar guys, no percussion or other band members. Last time was a full band and I enjoyed that one more, but this was still a good show. She and the brothers sounded great, she covered Led Zep's 'Going to California', and did a solo piano version of Joni Mitchell's 'A Case of You'.

Glad to hear she’s keeping the “Case of You” cover.

Saw Kamasi Washington and Herbie Hancock at Northerly Island with my pops on Saturday. It was an incredible show, and I didn't mind the venue as much as I thought I would. The sound was much better than I anticipated.
Also, did y'all know Herbie Hancock is 79?!?! Dude looks/moves/sounds like he's in his 50s!

Saw The Mountain Goats do a free show at East River Park on Saturday. They did "Going to Port Washington" and I got goosebumps. Oh yea, and the new songs came off great - got a pretty good crowd reaction too. This was my 5th Goats show - and goddamn, they never disappoint.

Florist was really great last night at Schuba's. Way more people there than I assumed there would be, but it was a very quiet and respectful crowd.
I love the new "solo" album, so those songs were definitely the highlight for me, but everything else sounded wonderful.
Went out for drinks at Victor Bar afterwards and spent way too much money, but the cocktails were A+. Incredibly pleasant Sunday evening.

Swearin' was really great and loud as hell last night. Unfortunately had to miss Mike Krol but it was still a great free show Mike and his band were great again. I was pissed, I was waiting to buy one of his shirts while Swearin' was playing, but no one was at the merch booth for like a good solid half hour. Oh well.

Show didn’t seem loud in the moment but my ears are still ringing. All 3 bands were all sick and I’m all for 1/2 sold all ages shoes where no one plays over 45 minutes
