I've seen both and Willem Dafoe was better.

Yeah, I will eventually see Three Billboards but I'm 99.9% certain my assessment will remain the same

3 Billboards ... was very good if you can get past most of the lack of consequences for their bad actions. 1. the assault on the dentist 2. throwing the advertising kid out a window 3. burning down the police station 4. assaulting high school kids The entire movie is about the false righteousness and the false unity that anger brings. It is nihilistic and no one gets a redemption and there are no consequences and I don't think the movie argues for you to like any of these characters by the end of the movie. If Frances McDormand or Sam Rockwell had big happy endings at the end I would completely agree with you though.

Rockwell is very good but I do think Dafoe or even Jenkins deserve it more. The problem is that I'm sure voters think of Rockwell's character arc as a more dynamic showcase, and the problem with that is the whole controversy centers on that perceived arc. So I have no idea who the Academy will go with. Jenkins didn’t even deserve a nomination imo.

i wish ray romano, tracy letts, or any of the fantastic cast of mudbound were more in the conversation for supporting actor.

Garrett Hedlund and Jason Mitchell should be getting at least some recognition, I agree.
Still waiting to see CMBYN but I'm assuming Armie Hammer's spot is sealed.

However, after reading about it and seeing the preview, I have zero interest in Ladybird - does it make me a shitty/tasteless person? I didn't think I'd like Lady Bird at all, but for some reason I ended up seeing it, and now it's one of my faves of the year.

how are you mad about Rockwell winning if you haven't seen 3 Billboards yet Because I simply can't think of someone more deserving than Dafoe in that one category sure. i havent seen the movie yet but im sure dafoe was great. im just saying ya cant really throw shade at rockwell for a performance you havent seen yet The entire movie is about the false righteousness and the false unity that anger brings. It is nihilistic and no one gets a redemption and there are no consequences and I don't think the movie argues for you to like any of these characters by the end of the movie. If Frances McDormand or Sam Rockwell had big happy endings at the end I would completely agree with you though. yeah i think the majority of the hatred the movie is getting is because people interpreted the ending as them "getting away with it" and not being punished for their wrongdoing (Rockwell especially) which i dont agree with at all. but it's also really weird that this is the movie where people suddenly decided to take umbrage with that concept.

I don't care about them not getting comeuppance for their actions. Sam Rockwell is given a redemptive arc on the flimsiest possible basis, and the film's perspective on the righteousness (or lack thereof) of McDormand's actions is so muddy that it makes it impossible to take anything away from anything that happens around her. Felt like it was going for moral ambiguity for its own sake, not actually mining any interesting moral questions. Dinklage was good though

I enjoyed The Post quite a bit more than I expected. It is exactly the movie the trailers make it out to be but Spielberg is pretty good at that and the cast is great. It opens in Vietnam to the sound of CCR and ends with an Avengers-style teaser for Watergate, and both of those are stupid. But I was completely on board for the rest of it.

Also I got those ghost pepper wings from Popeyes and they are very good but not spicy and at the same price as the 3-piece combo it isn't the best deal. The girl in front of me in line asked what 'Mild' was. Overall a good moviegoing experience.

man i remember Wendy's trying to do "ghost pepper fries" a few years ago and they were so disappointingly bland and overpriced

Did you see The Post at a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen location? That's the ultimate dream. For real though the theater is flanked by a Popeye's and a Raising Canes', and across from a Five Guys. There's no way I'm seeing a movie and not eating complete garbage immediately after.

Is Moviepass 1 movie per calendar day or per 24 hours?
I've heard both.
