as an nba fan who doesn't like college basketball as much because it's slow and sloppy, the hook of the tourney to me is the volume of games, especially the opening weekend. doesn't matter if 60% of the games stink because you're basically guaranteed to have a decent amount of of fun ones and a couple of legitimately wild/wacky ones. plus the sloppiness is a benefit in a "no lead is safe! anything can happen!" way
i usually have an "oh brother, this is rough" moment during the first game of the tourney i watch, but then i'm acclimated to the drop in talent levels by the time three games are on simultaneously and i'm able to rotate which one i'm paying attention to
