When did the "Modern Era" begin by whoever's definition this is? Personally, I view it in terms of Pre-Hogan and Post-Hogan (since it was him who drastically changed the business). Beginning in 1984 when he beat The Iron Shiek, Hogan's first reign went 4+ years. In any case, it's probably smart not to have a Brock match on that card. The Chicago crowd would absolutely shit all over it.

this is not a drill, this is really happening (which means odds of him showing up at All In are now greater than 0%, and with my luck that will be the day Jamiroquai will headline North Coast)

How hard will it be to get tickets for All In? I'll be busy when tickets go on sale so I asked my sister if she could grab me tickets and I don't really trust her ticket acquiring abilities :/

But I don’t think it’ll sell out tomorrow. If you’re not super worried about having great seats, I think you’ll be fine? I’m really bummed I’m gonna have to miss this show though. Probably my most anticipated show of the year

Guess I was wrong, All In sold out in under an hour. I'm pretty shocked, but good for Cody and the Bucks

I'm pretty shocked, but good for Cody and the Bucks from what i read ticket buying was a mess, there was no ticket limit so you could buy as many as you want... so there are tons of the $28 nosebleed tickets on stubhub for $100 already... but it sold out in 29 minutes and change

Is it in scope for them to move to a larger arena? Well done on them!

I wish I had bought stock in WWE. The price has shot up from about $20 last summer to $51!

Guess that explains why FOX cancelled half their damn lineup. We'll see how this goes. Prime networks have very short fuses when it comes to numbers. Their rating right now (via USA Network) would not be good enough for broadcast so we'll see if they add a ton of new viewers. Otherwise, this could be quite an expensive disaster for FOX.
Edit: quick example for you all....
The recently cancelled "The Middle" on ABC most recently delivered just under six million viewers. WWE Smackdown routinely hovers around 2.7 million. That's quite the difference and assuming A LOT of new people will jump on board for the product to make it worth it. Plus, you are completely booking up one of your best nights for tv ratings.
ANOTHER edit: I'm told it's moving to Fridays.

Can't wait until the NFL bubble bursts in a few seasons, that will surely screw them up

Doubt that bubble will bust. The only hope of that was a crackdown on fantasy gambling. We just legalized all gambling so that's a no go.

ANOTHER edit: I'm told it's moving to Fridays. I imagine there's a lot less risk involved in programming a WWE show for two hours, 52 weeks out of the year. If you look at it terms of programming blocks, you know that you're going to get around 3 million viewers for 104 hours per year. Sure, FOX might have a hit sit-com or two that are their cash cows for 24 weeks of the year drawing 6+ million viewers. But that's only 24 hours per year. What are they doing with the 80 hours of time they need to fill throughout the year? They're probably pumping a bunch of money into producing new shows that may or may not be successful. I don't know the success rate for new shows, but I imagine it's pretty low given the number of options and binge-able shows on the streaming networks. WWE viewership also remains relatively consistent year-round, so they'll still be drawing decent numbers even in the doldrums of the summer, which is typically considered a dumping ground for network programming.

Three million viewers +/- equals one rating point. With that said, I looked back at my Friday overnight report and here are the numbers:
Masterchef Junior: 2.7rtg Last Smackdown: 0.98rtg
I can promise you that a sub one rating is completely unacceptable in the world of broadcast. You can get away with it on cable or pay tv services as long as it's a huge niche program, which WWE definitely is (M18+ or M18-49).
Trust me when I say Smackdown will have to do WAY better than 3 million viewers for this to be a win/win. Smackdown has to attract at least double the HH audience and achieve a 2 rating and are banking on doing this by simple being free over the antenna versus a pay cable/ADS channel. We'll see.
Oh, and Friday is the night of death for Prime Time. Personally, I don't know if I'll ever watch Smackdown live from 7-9pm on Friday. It'll be DVR'd (which goes against their theory in it being DVR proof).

i would imagine that it being on a friday would mean less competition too though, and they're probably also hoping it morphs into a friday night party type event where a bunch of friends all watch.

Maybe the extra cash will allow them to hire some better writers. Last night's Raw was atrocious.

FYI if you are ever at a festival and see some redhead wearing your avatar on a t-shirt with WWF underneath it, it's likely me.

Last night's NXT was definitely not one of the best Takeovers, but it was still solid. Dream/Ricochet and the opening tag match were the highlights for me.
Still really jealous of AB and anyone else who may have been in attendance.

Being there in person, that Takeover was even better than the last Chicago one (which was insane good).
MITB I just didn't get. My group was all in agreement that they really need to slim down these PPVs to 5-6 matches if they are gimmick PPVs (Survivor Series/Royal Rumble/MITB/Elimination Chamber). It just dragged on so long last night. Takeover was so slick, so well thought out and the video promos were really well put together.
Quick(ish) tidbits:
-Daniel Bryan was incredible. He really carried Big Cass. Also, Big Cass was the third most hated man on that card. Not heel hate, just "get the fuck out of the WWE" hate. -Lashley really just needs to go heel. He's so damn strong and big dudes IMO don't do well as pure faces unless they are popular like Braun is. -I've been to a lot of these things (thanks to my buddy's working relationship with WWE Marketing people) and I've never in my life seen a crowd turn on a match. I read Bubba Ray's comments and honestly? Fuck him. The fight was an absolute train wreck. It was far worse than the first Goldberg vs Lesnar fight back in the early 2000s. Two people exchanging choke holds. With that, was the crowd as loud and disapproving via the network as it was live? We even had the wave going until mysteriously it suddenly stopped. Our guess is WWE people made sure it stopped. -But seriously, they HAD to have heard that, right? Doesn't Reigns go back there and demand creative change? If he aint going heel, he's GOT to do something else besides fighting Jinder Mahal. -Line of the night from my friend's son (about to enter High School) "You know why I hate this match? Because it's just 'Steroids' VS 'Male Stripper in SWAT Team Attire'". So so true. -Women's MITB was incredible. Bliss winning was a little surprising but it obviously worked. -Rousey missed a couple spots but she seriously had others that 20 year vets couldn't pull off. Our whole section was giving her standing o's. She deserved them! -Men's MITB. Why? The person who needed the briefcase THE LEAST ended up getting it. Makes zero creative sense. It didn't look like a single person in the arena was happy with the end result. Strowman should be fighting Lesnar at Summerslam. No briefcase needed. -The Owens ladder move was incredible in person. WOW. -Oh and the Styles Nakamura match was finally the match we had all hoped to see from the two. I was hoping Nakamura would win but oh well. Just concerned he's going to get buried now.
