They do not, however, have the most in a row for albums. That accomplishment goes to Deerhunter.

Is there a band other than Fleet Foxes that has BNM for every one of their releases? If they take the final step of becoming nastfork and scrub all their Brent Dicrescenzo reviews from their archives, Steely Dan does.

7.0 for Sufjan. Would not have predicted that in a million years.

I had an inkling of a feeling when they gave FF best new music right off the bat that Sufjan wouldn’t also get it this week but a 7.0 is still surprising and a bit lower than I think it deserves

7.0 seems accurate for a Baths record.

I thought the P4k stream was supposed to start at 7:30, but I guess it already started. Great.

9.0 for The Weather Station! I'm so happy for her, the 2017 self-titled record was fantastic, but this one seems like it's gonna be a big glow up for them. Def well deserved.

I was betting on a BNM in the 8.5 range but yeah a 9.0 is well deserved. It may not resonate immediately with folks but it unravels nicely. I've had it since around Christmas, and its gotten better with each listen.

I went to the website and realized that they are now doing a video collaboration thingy with Madlib and Kaytranada with sponsorship from Lexus. Good for them I guess.

Iceage is 5/5 for BNM. I think it's better than 8.3 but glad it got one. Methinks Squid is on the way.

Mountain Goats got a nice review from the Fork today, but I was more intrigued by their absolute pan of the new Hiss Golden Messenger album. Music crit has gotten so placid that seeing a 5.5 score on a well-regarded vets new project seems bold to me. They pretty much never step outside their 6-7 bubble on middling indie projects.

i thought it was especially weird coming from stephen desuner who has always been pretty glowing about hiss, interviews him a lot, etc. wonder if mc taylor pissed him off lol
the album is good too, fwiw.

I'm not participating in that as I no longer identify as a pitchfork reader.

Yea this is kinda pathetic. If you want to rewrite your history so badly, just re-publish a full review series for the records you want to give belated props to. I'm not impressed with pithy, one-paragraph take-downs of bands Pitchfork - like it or not - helped launch. Thinking largely here about Foxygen and their hilarious Interpol re-evaluation.
