SPRINTS guitarist Colm O'Reilly is leaving the band: www.brooklynvegan.com/sprints-guitarist-colm-oreilly-leaving-band/"After five incredible years together we are heartbroken to announce that our dear friend and brother, Colm O’Reilly, will be leaving SPRINTS. Life on the road can be tough — mentally, emotionally, and physically, and does not always allow us to pursue our ambitions and dreams in our personal lives. Colm has expressed a desire to retreat from public performance and full time touring to pursue his own passions and we fully support his decision. Colm has and always will be an integral part of the SPRINTS family and we are excited to see how both our journeys unfold. SPRINTS will continue with Karla, Jack and Sam and we will be joined by guest guitarists across our live dates. All live commitments will be honoured and full of classic SPRINTS energy. We are excited to enter this new chapter and continue to grow. Thank you for all the support so far and please join us in wishing Colm all the best. All our love, Karla, Jack and Sam x"

i'm not going to extrapolate much from that. i see it as similar to talking heads playing a couple songs at their rock & roll hall of fame induction. but if they end up playing some shows, i will definitely be interested.

guess I'm due to see REM this year for the third total time, because I catch them every 20 years: 1984 Saint Louis, 2004 Chicago, 2024 ?

Can some zillionaire just put together a festival headlined by REM and the Talking Heads? I will travel literally anywhere.

Stevie Nicks has said that Fleetwood Mac is officially done following Christine McVie’s death. Seems right to me

Max (bassist) out of Big Thief. Nooooo that really sucks. I feel like their rhythm section is a special part of what elevates them from their peers - huge bummer to hear.

I liked them a lot already, but the first time I saw them elevated them into "favorite band of all time" territory. Buck wasn't there since him and Adrianne got divorced, so it was just a trio in the round at Thalia Hall. Realized then how special Max and James were, and how it was so much more than just Adrianne Lenker with a backing band. This sucks.

Sat up in the balcony with some friends (+ future wife) - was a really special show. The group as a whole has a truly special alchemy. I love Adrianne's solo records, but they don't really stack up to the Big Thief catalogue (IMO) even tho the songs/structures are often similar. Hope they find a good replacement and can just woodshed a bunch for the next album/tour.

I only saw big thief, once, where they headlined over overcoats at Pritzker pavilion in 2017, so I guess I saw the complete band. I remember that mookie was at this show, because he had good things to say about overcoats, who aren't really in my wheelhouse.

This one was my first Big Thief show, I grabbed a setlist after the show from Adrianne. One of these days I'd love to get it signed, but they may be a little too big to facilitate that anymore.

I remember it like it was yesterday. The scene is Pitchfork 2012. A group of boarders, myself included, is watching A$AP Rocky perform a midday set. Growing tired of the show, I turn to my then wife and tell her that I'm going to watch The Japandroids.
Genghis stops what he's doing, turns to me, and in the most spiteful tone goes "Actually, it's just Japandroids. There's no The."
I hang my head and slink away to their set in humiliation. This encounter has stuck with me for twelve years I guess.
Good riddance.

aerosmith retiring from touring:
As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision - as a band of brothers - to retire from the touring stage.

Damn. I think I've stated several times on this board that Aerosmith at the UC was my first show ever back in 94. I was hoping to do the full circle thing with postponed upcoming now cancelled farewell tour, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.
