was back on my couch by 5:15 pm, because I am too old and too weak. none of the 7 bands thru soul glo (inclusive) was bad, but none of them were life changing to me.
glad to see mookie, teekoh, teekoh's +1, tweet, rango, munkivelli, and a couple of people whose real names I know, but whose board names I don't remember, and a split second glance / wave to krentist and his turnpike troubadours t-shirt.
bon iver will have to be trapper kept another time when the sun isn't beating me down.

Friday was a ton of fun. Didn't really catch a bad set. Grace Ives could probably benefit from having something or someone else on stage with her. Agreed that the crowd for The Smile was super small, but they somehow exceeded my expectations. Axel Bowman and Ric Wilson were both big surprises.

Munki quickly introduced me to someone he said was sthubbins during the loudest part of the Jockstrap set, but I never saw him again. I’m taking munki’s word for it.

Top 5 Sets:
1.) Big Thief
2.) Bon Iver
3.) MJ Lenderman
4.) The Smile
5.) Alvvays
Biggest surprises
1.) Alvvays. I like them quite a bit on record, but I thought they were terrific live. Somehow an outstanding live band.
2.) Soul Glo. The album did nothing for me but that was super fun. I think I'm deaf now though.
Biggest disappointments:
1.) Panda Bear set getting rained out. I am cursed.
2.) Killer Mike. He has a couple absolutely horrible songs on the new album and he played them both early. Left to go to Illuminati Hotties who were awesome. Wish I saw her whole set

Thanks to munkivelli for breaking my 16-year streak of not meeting any boarders, great talking to him and postfontaine during Big Thief. Very nice to meet some of you at Jockstrap and sorry for vanishing before chatting much. My sister lives in Chicago now (and I now live in driving distance) so I'll be back. Munki quickly introduced me to someone he said was sthubbins during the loudest part of the Jockstrap set, but I never saw him again. I’m taking munki’s word for it. I saw you walking near the food stands and waved but I was sitting down and didn't catch your eye. I'll holler next time. Favorite sets were Lenderman, Perfume Genius and Jlin. |

The more I think about it the best sets I saw this weekend were the two MJ Lenderman ones.
Long Black Veil->Tastes Just Like It Costs to shut down the aftershow was fucking sick
Also Plus kinda sucks lol. The cold fried chicken at motorshucker was the best thing I ate this weekend tho so.
