Sorry if Grant Hart but just read that "the festival will be allowed to expand its capacity to 115,000 per day as part of the deal"

Dunno how they’re gonna do that pritzker pavillion at millenium park; what's one more street closing?

It seems that Perry and Billy Corgan are getting along these days. Wouldn't be surprised to see Smashing Pumpkins next year.

When Billy Corgan showed up with P4P, I think I understood the feeling that the j-hope fans had when he came onstage. I screamed "BILLY! BILLY I LOVE YOU!" and flung myself like five feet toward the rail. This was like a completely involuntary response, my reptile brain kicked in upon realizing I was in the physical presence of a god on Earth.
Guy beside me in the crowd later said "Yo, you weren't fucking around when Corgan came out!" I was like "sorry, I wasn't trying to be extra" and he said "No, I get it, I saw your tattoo!" (I have an SP heart and the first line of "Muzzle" tattooed on my back.)

When Billy Corgan showed up with P4P was waiting for this shit to happen at metro the nite before, but no, it was just an ordinary pfp set. I kind of regret not buying the specific metro poster downstairs on the way out, and it was a very shiny and cool poster, but I didn't feel like spending $50 for the unsigned or $75 for the signed one at that moment.

Red Hot Chili Peppers*Lizzo*Calvin Harris*Future Muse*SZA*Florence and the Machine*The 1975
Realistically though probably sub either a borderline hip-hop headliner for Florence, someone that maybe graduates to headliner status by the end of the year that i cant think of now like Lil Baby this year, or a k-pop act since I could see them doubling down on that.
edit- i changed this like twice. I did just have "some dj act" but put Calvin instead edit 2- lol Jack Harlow fits for that borderline hip-hop act

Last year I was calling Lolla purely a pop festival but 2022 surprised me with the number of rock bands. The thing is I don't actually know what rock bands are headliner-tier in 2023, either current bands or legacy bands that aren't multi-time repeats. Twenty One Pilots, The 1975, and Imagine Dragons I guess are the easy picks for the first group. Weezer? They've sucked for 15 years but seem to never lose any popularity and are probably still a 4 or 5 on a Lolla lineup.

There's always Muse and Coldplay too.

Paramore, Panic at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, Fun. (when reunited)
For the olds: Rage Against the Machine, Guns N Roses, Aerosmith, Motley Crue
We're talking about a festival that also booked Journey in 2021. You could probably put Styx or REO in the mix.

I was genuinely surprised that Glass Animals was only a sub this year. If they'd have had MGK's spot I would have seen them.

If Nate Ruess is to be believed there will never be a Fun. reunion. He is mostly into shitposting and guesting on leftist podcasts these days and literally always says he has no desire to get back to music in any significant capacity.

Paramore, Panic at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, Fun. (when reunited) Lolla would be in competition with Riot Fest for all those bands. If LN was going to book them they'd put them at ACL. Journey is maybe a step above the typical state fair band, on par with like Bon Jovi or something.

Lolla would be in competition with Riot Fest for all those bands. If LN was going to book them they'd put them at ACL. You could make that argument about any rock band like Green Day or other Lolla bands like NIN, The Strokes, Blink-182. Machine Gun Kelly played Riot Fest last year. You can probably add My Chemical Romance to Lolla possibilities these next few years as well.

Eh Lolla's booked Green Day and Blink in recent years so act like Paramore and Fall Out Boy definitely would be plausible as well.
