I've had pretty good luck with talking at Lolla. I haven't been since 2019 but I almost yelled at people during CRJ in 2018. That was about the only time I've been angry. This is probably the worst crowd talker situation I’ve encountered to date

I think the most concerning thing reading the subreddit is the number of "i've been going to lolla for x years, and ..." posts. I'd understand more if it was a lot of newbs complaining about general festival nuisances, but it sounds like a lot of things got messed up logistically. Somewhat relieving to see counterpoints from the board, which hasn't been too shy about complaining about stuff in the past.

That was about the only time I've been angry. the absolute worst i ever encountered was during depeche mode in 2009. there was a small group of friends in front of me that ballooned to at least a dozen people who'd apparently not seen each other in eons and had to catch up on every bit of minutiae in each other's lives.

everyone on the second week of august: no idea how this festival is still afloat, logistically terrible, flooded with drunk teens, nowhere to stand, sound is awful, unbearable perry's bleed, i did manage to not want to kill myself for almost 50 minutes of each day so that was something everyone in march of the following year: idk there's at least 2 bands i like, i'll be there all 4 days This is a good post but I don't think many people on this board actually paid full freight for four day passes this year? I paid the $160 for a guest pass thanks to my beautiful boy concertgoer but I know a few people won tickets and most of the rest just picked and chose their days afaik

Yeah If I can continue to get a guest pass for $160 I'll keep going, but after some of the issues this year I highly doubt I would pay full freight in the future unless the lineup was amazing.

I paid full freight and I'm okay with that. If somebody wants to hook me up with cheaper tickets in the future I'll gladly take them though since I'm likely going to have to buy a third for my kid next year.

I feel like I was fine sitting this one out this year. I am a mark and will likely want to go next year but it sounds like the fest has some shit to work out with this expanded footprint
Aside from the Lana shoving did y’all have problems getting out of there at a reasonable time by the end of the night?

Just by reading the subreddit, you'd think this was the worst music festival. The major complaints of the redditors are:
1. "I went to a teen pop festival and it was full of teenagers!"
2. "I went straight to a mainstage at 11am, sat on the barricade all day, and didn't have any fun!"

I'm far enough removed from actually attending this fest that any FOMO I once felt is has long since disappeared. Lolla is and always has been for the kids.

That reminds me of my other minor gripe: regarding the cocktail areas, did they have hte same rule last year that you could not take them outside of those gated areas? At first I thought that was new, but I'm having deja vu that it may have been the same last year.
I get why they are doing it (to limit people passing the drinks to the youngsters), but they had the same yellow cups at the bar right by the big main stage too.

I had a good system where approximately 3 songs before the end of the set I’d slide over to whatever side was closest to the gates and then head out the second the last song ended. The only night I didn’t do that was last night but it’s because we had really great spots for Lana

This has been the case for as long as I can remember at this fest. I remember trying to take a cocktail out in 2019 and they yelled at me. I suppose if you brought an opaque water bottle they wouldn’t immediately know though

Attended all 4 days and didn't find the experience to be very different from previous years.
Dessert Island was a great addition that I visited daily. Additional food vendors across from Perry's was also nice. I didn't wait in a long line all weekend.
VIP area is definitely the biggest negative to the average fest goer. It absolutely made the general area more dense and dangerous.

Just curious - did the VIP sections ever get remotely full, like during headliners? / was anybody here far enough up in the crowd to see that?

Were the crowds actually noticeably worse this year than years prior? I was perusing the Lolla subreddit this morning and they seem to be on about the same shit they were like 8 and 9 years ago, but pretending its a new phenomenon b/c of covid isolation or something. It was like the Greatest Hits lmao - crowd trains! teens from the suburbs! pushing and shoving! random stories of people shitting/pissing during sets! I think the expansion of VIP + the expanded capacity made it more difficult to avoid the awful people and especially at night. The area around Perry's seemed like more of a dumpster fire this year but maybe I just noticed it more since I walked by it often the first few days to cross the park. I agree with CG, I definitely mentioned to my wife that it felt more crowded a few times over the course of the weekend, but I think that is partly because of the rose colored glasses of not going for a couple of years and opting to just do Riot Fest instead.. the VIP expanded sections were the worst of the worst decisions as far as layout changes that I noticed. I definitely would not have gone all 4 days this year if it wasn't for our friend offering to purchase our hotel if we went with him and his boyfriend. Overall we had a great time, and I'm glad we went, but it really just reinforced my thoughts that my tastes and the fest are going in opposite directions. Edit** it also would have been nice to know 99% of the fest was exclusively cashless before going. I knew cashless was an option, but I saved up cash to take over the last few months and it was basically useless unless a bartender or food vendor decided to serve us and pocket the money. There was one booth that was actively accepting cash right there by the band merch, but what a pain in the ass to have to shift around money while I'm on vacation.
