Nothing makes me feel older than watching the children of athletes I watched as a youth. Right? I saw his pop hit an inside the park HR at a minor league game in Trenton back in the ‘90s.

I saw his pop hit an inside the park HR at a minor league game in Trenton back in the ‘90s. i saw him in reading in '96. in one game, he had two HRs, a double, and a couple throws from RF that looked like they came out of a cannon. my dad and i couldn't figure out why he was still at double-A.

It was wild how little reaction there was to Luis Robert hitting a 487 ft dinger. Broadcast seemed weirdly subdued while he was up. Also loved this:

I saw Dante Bichette play at Mile High Stadium back in the day and his kid did a better job calling the derby than ESPN last night.

oh man i love the all-star game. i won a lottery to buy tix to the dallas asg in 95 (outfield 3rd row) and it was so hot and that's when the homerun derby was in the afternoon and was tape-delayed on tv (nugenix's frank thomas won). during batting practice i caught a ball kenny lofton threw up into the stands (don't know who actually hit it) and got dogpiled trying to hang on to it (i still have the ball!). jeff conine was mvp of the game. so much fun and seeing all those greats in one place was amazing.

San Diego in late September sounds like a plan.
I'll probably end up driving to KC for one of the weekend series, too.

As a cards fan, been waiting almost 20 years for them to be in Chicago at the same time as Lolla. Looks like it will finally happen next year.

mets are playing the rangers next june. that's the only current MLB ballpark i haven't seen a game at, so i'll be there for that. i think i've seen the mets in half of the current ballparks, so will probably try to knock out a couple others too.

venom what’s your favorite ballpark? it's PNC. my favorite seats in MLB are in the lower bowl on the third base side, but i've never sat in a bad seat. good pricing all around too. and it's easily walkable from downtown. although, i admit that ranking may be skewed because i've been to several games there with some of my best friends and had great times. And why is it Dodger’s Stadium? dodger stadium is great, once you're there. but i find it can be a hassle to get to. and it's a little pricey.

A friend and I asked a guy working at a brewery "near" the stadium if it was walkable from there, and he said yes. We ended up drenched in sweat once we finally arrived after basically walking up a mountain, so I do agree it's kind of a pain in the ass to get to. Really incredible once you're in the ballpark, though - would love to make a return visit.
I've heard great things about PNC, too.
Least favorite is probably Great American Ball Park, but I also haven't been since 2006.

Least favorite is probably Great American Ball Park, but I also haven't been since 2006. tampa and oakland are at the bottom of my list. they are truly terrible ballparks with few redeeming features. although, oakland at least has a bart stop nearby.

Love trusting the dude who couldn't build a complete roster after trading the best players on the team to do it again.

Also embarrassing that the two dudes who were acquired at the start of the most recent rebuild are the first two sent out for the start of the "retool." lol

Pretty great return for two months of Giolito. I really hope Kenny and Hahn are only allowed to trade rentals and that they're fired in the off-season though.
Would be insane to let them lead another rebuild by trading guys like Cease

Sox traded Lynn and Kelly to the Dodgers and Graveman to the 'Stros.
Trayce Thompson is back in the Chi, baby.

Went to the Sox game tonight with my folks, sister “in-law”, and our niblings. Excellent evening and game experience.
Before the game even started, I managed to get a hand on a ball Oscar Colas threw into the crowd and got it for the younger of the two kids. Downside, I think it may have broken/seriously bruised a bone in my hand.
How pitchers manage to barehand stuff hit back at them and keep pitching is fucking wild.
