yep this has been my issue with the idea from the start and now im not liking where they're taking it based on this trailer. well the 12 hours of excitement was nice while it lasted. For real one of the biggest criticisms about the prequels was that they overexplained things from the OT so it's insulting Disney spent billions of dollars for the opportunity to overexplain more shit. Having not seen the trailer, this film should clearly be set one month before the events of A New Hope. Everything/one is already there, no explanation or winking at the audience needed. |

See, I'm actually of the opposite mindset. Han is 29 in New Hope, they could plausibly have him be 19-21 in this. Maybe at the big climactic battle Emilia Clarke and Woody betray him, the movie ends with him emotionally closed-off and jaded, and then we get his redemption in New Hope.
I would also be down for avb's idea.

(is that what this movie is?) i'd say it's very unlikely that the first half will be that since they clearly wanna explain how Han joined the military then abandoned it then got recruited by Woody. maybe it'll be like Rogue One and the second half will save it tho |

I'm more hyped for Star Wars Land than any Star Wars movie coming out in the foreseeable future. The stuff Disney is doing now with Star Wars in the parks is pretty great...I mean I have a selfie with Chewbacca! Unreal.
