Bears fired Getsy. I don't know whether this means he's solely getting the blame for the offense or we're going to see a new OC and QB next season. My guess is the latter.

Consensus seems to be that this firing is an indication they’ll draft a QB and deal Fields. Williams or Maye might be an upgrade, but either way I think success is far out of reach as long as the Bears continue to have the same ownership, front office and coaching staff (with or without Getsy). These people generally present as an unserious, dysfunctional group. Maybe the GM is alright. Then again, this is the super genius who engineered the Chase Claypool debacle. I’m not wishing for an old lady to die, but I think nothing changes for the better until the team is sold (this, of course, assumes a buyer capable of competent ownership).

The Claypool trade was legit bad but at least I understand the rationale - trying to give Fields a downfield weapon. The trade Poles pulled off in the draft was terrific to get Moore back in addition to the picks. I think they're closer to being competitive than you're describing, but then again this team doesn't really deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Poles drafted Mahomes so I guess I’m trusting him. I’m probably a moron

I agree that Poles gets points in the plus column for the DJ Moore/#1 pick trade.
Also agree they may be “competitive” - we certainly saw flashes of that in the second half of the season.
But I also think the leadership has proven themselves to be fundamentally unsound. Despite variance throughout any given season (for the team or an individual player like Fields), the overall trend is towards mediocrity at best.
And now they’re half-assing the offseason by getting rid of Getsy and probably Fields, but keeping Eberflus. Wtf just wipe the slate clean or don’t. If they keep Fields do we really expect good results when they bring in a new OC and Fields has to learn a new offense? Do we expect them to attract top offensive coaching talent when Eberflus is a lame duck head coach who could easily be canned at the end of the year if not midseason?
Maybe they’ll get lucky and Williams or Maye transcends all that, but ultimately these people are cynical, cheap-ass motherfuckers and I’d bet on them stunting if not ruining the career of whoever they draft.

I believe the problems start at the top, and unfortunately the McCaskeys will never sell the team. Most owners in professional sports became wealthy, and then bought a team. The McCaskeys wealth comes from owning the Bears, it's all they have going for them, and they have proven to be incompetent owners.

Bills/Steelers game is moved to Monday at 3:30 pm CT
That should free up everyone's Sunday afternoon to focus your attention on more important things like the Illini game.

I cannot believe I have to signup for Peacock in order to watch the game. We're pissed about that too. We're looking to go somewhere to watch it. I'm sure the only Buffalo Wild Wings in town will be packed.

They’re offering a full year for $29.99 with offer code PEACOCK2024. I believe you can also get a seven day free trial. If you have Instacart, you can also get basic Peacock for free.
