Recently, Snapchat ran a controversial advertisement that asked users if they would rather “Slap Rihanna” or “Punch Chris Brown,” appearing to make light of Brown’s 2009 felony assault on Rihanna. Snapchat then apologized for the ad and issued the following statement: “The advert was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines. We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware.” Rihanna has now responded to the advertisement. “You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV [domestic violence] victims and made a joke of it!!!” she wrote on her Instagram Story today. “This isn’t about my personal feelings... but all the women, children and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who haven’t made it out yet.... You let us down!”

Gabby Smith of Ó (fka Eskimeaux) released a statement today regarding the allegations of abuse that have been whispered about for a few years. This is a pretty shocking and sad read - here's hoping what she has to say is true, and she can get her life/career back on track. Oliver Kalb of Bellows (closely related group in the Double Double Whammy / Epoch scene) voiced his support for Gabby on twitter.

It’s crazy how simplified things are becoming. There is no intelligence anymore and people seem to be frightened to say what they really think. Now I am told even by my wife to keep my head a bit low. It’s like when mob rule takes over, the mob is out there they are carrying their torches and they are going to burn down Frankenstein’s castle.

Season of Mist have parted ways with black metal band Inquisition. Their statement simply reads, “Season of Mist are no longer working with Inquisition. There will be no further statement.”
UPDATE: Season of Mist’s announcement that they are dropping Inquisition came out just a few hours before MetalSucks ran an article reporting that Inquisition frontman Jason “Dagon” Weirbach plead guilty to child pornography charges in 2009. MetalSucks mention that they reached out to Season of Mist for comment on the child pornography charges yesterday morning, and were told in the afternoon that the label is no longer working with Inquisition. The article reads: Inquisition frontman Jason Weirbach, a.k.a. “Dagon,” plead guilty to child pornography charges in 2009, according to official documents from the Superior Court of Washington for Snohomish County. The documents, which are a matter of public record, state that NCMEC (the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children) became aware of an account uploading sexually explicit photographs of “young females in their early teens or pre-teens” to the photo-sharing website Photobucket in November of 2006. After tracing the uploader’s I.P. address and determining its jurisdiction, NCMEC contacted the Everett Police Department, who subsequently launched an investigation.
Although the user name for the Photobucket account suggested its owner was a woman, that investigation eventually led police to Weirbach. In late 2007, Detective Karen Kowalchyk visited Weirbach and his wife at their home. While Weirbach was out of the room, his wife admitted that they were having marital problems, that Weirbach liked for her to dress up as a young girl when they had sex, and that she was concerned he might be looking at child pornography online; while his wife was out of the room, Weirbach admitted that the Photobucket images were his, and that he had pretended to be a lesbian while obtaining them online. Weirbach claimed that he had only ever looked at the images “out of curiosity.”
The MetalSucks article also points out that Weirbach was charged with Fourth Degree Assault and Third Degree Malicious Mischief in February of 2006. Read more here.
Inquisition have also been subject to accusations of racism and Nazism for years. In 2015, Woe claimed they were kicked off a festival for booking a show with Inquisition.
Though it seems that Season of Mist’s decision to drop Inquisition is related to the child porn charges, black metal bands have increasingly been under fire for alleged racism this year. Taake cancelled a tour after select venues cancelled their Taake shows when past accusations of Nazism were brought up. Soon after that, a San Francisco venue removed Destroyer 666 (who are also on Season of Mist), who have faced racism accusations throughout their career, off their upcoming Watain show. (Watain moved the show do a different SF venue so D666 could stay on the bill.)

And unsurprisingly, the founder of the northwest suburbs' favorite megachurch hass been accused of sexual misconduct. Also unsurprisingly, he denies the accusations.

If rumors are to be believed, tweeting pictures of teenage girls' feet was just the tip of the iceburg.

Especially with the word “douche”. Like if it said “fuckwad” I would say that maybe it’s a little obscene but “douche” is hardly offensive.

So far this is the only thing that's happened to James Franco as a result of being a horrible person. According to People, he's a "mess." I hate that there's nothing to be done. Sure, he hasn't "slept in days" but he's still in a mansion, and those women were still violated and objectified. It's so frustrating to see nothing get done. Hell it's been two years since the Michael Gira thing, and Swans just finished a successful tour earlier this year. Is that all they have to do? Just wait it out until it leaves the public's memory?
