If you want to be front row at a Nick Cave show, you can be front row at a Nick Cave show. Don't be a dick about it, but the crowd always surges up to the stage right before/after the show starts. Note: if you are in like the 3rd row and want to be closer, keep your eyes open and be ready to move. Security usually has the memo so you shouldn't have to worry too much about them. it was like that when i saw him at the beacon in new york. should be interesting at the auditorium since it looks like the pit is literally the orchestra pit.

Yeah, I'm a little curious about the stage height and stuff. We shall see.

I sat in pit seats for the Monsters of Folk show in 2009. Let me see if I can dig up some pictures. My memory says the stage was no more than 3-4' high.

Another great show. I got up front before it started before security cracked down but I was able to pretend I had a seat close up anyway and it worked. He played Love Letter instead of Into My Arms as a fan request which was great. Only disappointment was that the encore was the same... I know he's stopped switching it up at this point on the tour but he didn't play Jack the Ripper again, so I guess that song is off now. Regardless, it was incredible. One of if not the best performer I've ever seen.

I know it was addressed in the Upcoming Shows thread, but John Moreland was really great last night. He sounded incredible and his sideman was on point. I thought I would miss the full band arrangements, but this setting was very effective for entirely different reasons. S/o avb and zach for holding down awesome seats.
I'm bummed that I missed Will Johnson. Traffic was brutal last night.

yeah, would have liked to have seen mogwai, but it was during sampha so oh well. we did wind up seeing haim at 3am on the rayban (best stage) though, which was super nice. thissy told me that morning "i am not going to see haim" but there we were haim are a super pleasant band to bop along to drunk in the middle of the night. *other high point of the festival: it's only daylight for a couple hours if you show up at the right time, and then it's just chill and dark the whole time. so clutch, i miss it already When I get too intoxicated I make mistakes like seeing Haim and loving it. Wake up call for sure.

Not sure how much booze I'd need to drink to enjoy a 2017 Haim set. I might be dead by the time they go on is all I'm saying.

I feel like a crazy person for really enjoying Haim's Lolla set last year now... I enjoyed what I saw, but I had to leave about halfway through to deal a wild animal (9lb puppy) attacking my fiancée.

Iron Maiden and Ghost were p goddamn lit last night. great setlist from both, sounded perfect, crowd was great, etc.
getting out of the lot wasn't nearly as bad as previous times but still probably took 20-30 minutes.
i hope BR found a way home tho :/

THS was fun last night. Got light headed and didn't feel well a little more than halfway through, but it was still a good time. I think I'm going to skip today, even though my buddy was able to hook me up with a soundcheck/happy hour ticket. Idk if I'm just exhausted or what, but I'm not really feeling up to going to a show tonight..

saw Tool last night for the first time...pretty awesome. nothing will correct missing them in 09 at Lolla for the fucking YYYs, but at least now I've seen them. Also was looking forward to The Crystal Method but it turned out to be a DJ set. Figured their late show at The Venue would be both guys, but nope. Total bullshit billing...

Oh hey the one band I hate more than The National. I'd seen them a bunch when they were on every fest lineup in the mid-aughts (?) but my brother never had, and he was pretty geeked about it. Craig talked a bit about the community that's grown up around the band, and being a part of several band/nerd communities myself it was interesting to hear - I never considered they might have such a rabid following. He called out one dude who was celebrating his 80th show and we met another dude who had just seen his 56th show. Also their hardcore nerd crew throws confetti (instead of handfuls of glowsticks like people do at MMJ/Phish) and I am super down for that. #TeamConfetti at Northerly this summer.
