Essential Christmas movies or movies I consider “Christmas” not on church’s list: The Ref The Man Who Came to Dinner L.A. Confidential Love Actually The Ref is hilarious, but Kevin Spacey's presence makes it less fun than it used to be. If you like mean spirited - check outThe Man Who Came to Dinner. Monty Woolley is fantastic.

Mean Girls is on the Pluto comedy channel at 3:15 CST.
I tried to watch Bridget Jones' Diary yesterday but it was so cringe I couldn't watch it in front of my dude. As much as I loved the book (and it holds up as an artifact of its time) the movie was sooooo bad.

It is soooo embarrassing
So many cringey lines and music cues but the one that makes my skin crawl is when Bridget is quitting her job and says something like "I'd rather have a job wiping Saddam Hussein's arse!" and then "Respect" by Aretha Franklin kicks in I cringed so hard I felt something pop

For the first little while I just thought maybe it had aged like milk but I'm ~halfway through it and I can't remember a world in which this would have been considered funny

I saw it when I was maybe in high school and had no recollection of it being anything other than "fine" but we couldn't even finish it either.

My favorite part about BJD is that her friend with the high-pitched voice is played by... that's right - you guessed it! BABU FRIK!

4. Mean Girls (2004; Mark Waters)
Not a Christmas movie. 0/5 Santas neeeexxxxxxt 5. Jingle All the Way (1996; Brian Levant)
Arnold cucked by Phil Hartman, teaches his son to always be prepared to be disappointed, 10/10 holiday movie could not be more Christmas 5/5 Santas 6. Bridget Jones' Diary (2001; Sharon Maguire)Not a Christmas movie but does have very, very slight relations to Christmas / hardcore winter vibes in more than just one particular scene. A big mistake I made with choosing the order of the movies was to put a bunch of the "not really sure if this is a Christmas movie" ones at the top. It has resulted in basically watching movies that are frustrating me with their lack of Christmas. I got so bored watching this that at one point I started doing a bit in my head that the movie would be more interesting if it were "Bridget Jones Dairy" and tried to imagine what the plot would be 1/5 Santas.

7. Reindeer Games (2000; John Frankenheimer)I had not seen this before. The best parts of this are when Ben Affleck yells "I want some goddamn hot chocolate" and when you see Ben Affleck's butt. Charlize Theron has the most unfortunately awful hair in this. Movie also feels all over the place like it never knows if its supposed to be serious or funny. Gary Sinise plays a crazy person well and gets to say "reindeer games" in the movie which rules. 3/5 Santas, there's a lot of Christmas tie-ins to this. Moreso than another movie coming up. 8. The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992; Brian Henson)
I really unapologetically love this and I actually still teared up at Michael Caine begging the Ghost of Christmas Yet-to-Come to not let Tiny Tim die even though I've seen/heard/read this story a hundred times. Made me laugh even harder when Gonzo says "And Tiny Tim, who did NOT die!" at the end. Probably my favorite Muppet-related content? 5/5 Santas, doesn't get more Christmas than A Christmas Carol. 8. Die Hard (1988; John McTiernan)
As I said in the first post, something I'm really trying to ask myself is 'what makes something a Christmas movie' and I've always felt like Die Hard was a Christmas movie because of the objective setting of the film - the entire thing takes place at a Christmas party. It opens with Christmas in Hollis. Bruce Willis gets off a plane with an enormous stuffed bear, clearly a gift. A terrorist wears a Santa hat and a sweater that says "Ho Ho Ho" written in..blood? Is it blood? Its pretty neat to be blood. But, apart from those exact instances, there's not a single reference to Christmas that I can recall. None stood out to me, anyway. Harry Potter feels as much like a Christmas movie as Die Hard; they devote roughly the same percentage of their runtime to acknowledging Christmas. The fact that Die Hard takes place entirely at a Christmas party gives it a slight edge to me, but, after this recent review: Die Hard is not really a Christmas movie. Rating: 2/5 Santas 10. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000; Ron Howard)
Why does this movie look this way?! It looks so cheap and soft!! It looks like its clouded in a fever-dreamish fog! I don't like it!! I also loathe Jim Carrey's performance as the Grinch in this, he's so annoying Rating: 5/5 Santas, this movie being ass doesn't change the fact that the grinch is as christmas as they come

11. Beavis and Butthead Do Christmas (1995; Mike Judge, Mike de Seve)
This sucked but made me laugh a couple times and is undisputedly a Christmas 'movie' (special) Rating: 4/5 Santas 12. Edward Scissorhands (1990; Tim Burton)
I thought there was more Christmas in this one than there actually is - way more focused on snow than anything to do with Christmas. Pretty sick when Edward kills Jim though. Rating: 1/5 Santas. There is a tree decorating scene, and the dad sings 'I Saw Three Ships' while rolling carpets of fake snow onto the roof - enough for a single Santa.

The first Beavis and Butt-Head Christmas special - where they just sit around and watch Christmas videos - is better.

They did quite a bit of that in this one but I will admit I didn't know there was another special
