I realize that I post a fair amount in the "Albums You Listened To Today" thread about new records, usually praising them, but haven't actually demonstrated where those records stack up comparative to each other. So, I spent some time working on this today - top 50 of the 180 or so albums I've heard this year. List is completely fluid, nothing locked in place. Rather, it reflects what felt right this morning.

I've probably listened to 115 or so. I've got 95 currently in my list, but those are the ones that I've listened to 3+ times. There have probably been 15-20 that I've decided don't merit second or third listens.

Everything else I'd say is fair game, I think I've heard about half my list at least twice.

Yeah I usually hear about 100 albums a year and I'm on pace for that as usual.
If I push myself past that I get major new music burnout. This way I find plenty of time to listen to old faves

I listen to 85-90% of the albums I list in the AOTW. Fridays are a very busy day for me.

You've heard 180 albums this year? Holy fucking shit. It's easy to blast through a bunch of albums when doing thesis research and readings all day. Last year I hit something like 300 albums? But whenever I'm actually working a job, my numbers go back down to more normal levels. Of the 180 so far, I'd say about half are ones I've liked and have/will listen to again. |

I’m around 80 albums listened to. Already way further than last year. I’d like to hit around 150, which I guess I’m on track to do more than. Assuming I do the back and forth to Madison drive a bit more often (another friend just moved there) I assume I’ll have some more time in the car to just listen to albums
