One of the acting prizes will probably be a surprise. There's always one. Nah. NOT This Year. It is too baked-in and everyone has a powerful narrative. All 4 of this year's Faves are 1000x More of a "Sure Thing" than Glenn Close was Last Year. Any of the Big 4 losing would be unfathomable. |

I believe Parasite, 1917, and Hollywood all have a legit shot at Best Picture, and their respective directors are all in the running for Best Director as well.

i think sam mendes is a lock for best director.
all the pundits shifted to parasite for best picture in their final predictions, but i refuse to get my hopes up again. still think it's 1917.

They need to ditch the preferential ballot thing. It's basically designed to reward the aggressively fine. |

Here's a take I've been working on: Parasite and Knives Out are exactly as good as each other. Both twisty crowdpleasers with good ensembles that draw upon societal issues for stakes but don't actually have much to say about them.

With the Acting Awards being baked-in, it seems that there are only 2 Big Questions among the Top 8 Awards:
1) Do you get a Parasite/Mendes Split for BP/BD?
2) Does Gerwig get Adapted Screenplay (to make up for Director Snub)? Or will it be Jojo Rabbit?
I like the Parasie/Mendes Split.
I am pulling for Gerwig, but alot of the Gold Derby Crowd thinks that Jojo Rabbit could win.
