did no one mention the lack of Grant Hart in the In Memoriam? Pitchfork went through the, uh, snubs on that one if anyone cares. Also viewership for this thing was down 21% from last year. Makes sense with the declining relevance of everything

I'm actually pretty hyped for the oscars tonight. Finally managed to see all the best picture nominees. Who do you all think is gonna win? I think Get Out has a pretty solid chance with both the director's guild and independent spirit awards.

Picture: Three Billboards Actor: Oldman Actress: McDormand Supp Actor: Rockwell Supp Actress: Janey Director: del Toro Foreign: A fantastic woman all of the sound awards: dunkikr costumes: phantom thread documentary: faces places
Nolan deserves director. Del Toro's film has two of its main cast playing the same roles they do every film, animation techniques that were done to death with Lord of the Rings over 15 years ago, the actual directing is far less technical
Ladybird won't win anything.
Lady Bird and The Post shouldn't have even been nominated for Best Picture.
Streep's nomination should've gone to the woman in phantom thread
More foreign films should get Best Picture noms, as Loveless and A Fantastic Woman were better than a large chunk of the crap that made it this year.

Can we at least all agree regardless of what you think of the film that Rockwell’s performance was really, really fucking great?

I didn't see it but I love Sam Rockwell so he was probably great.
Fine ass Armie Hammer and Gal Gadot sharing the stage is the definition of sploosh

I'm okay with Rockwell's win. He did a great job. I just wish Woody would get his due someday. He's so underrated.

Willem Dafoe is way more overdue for recognition than Woody, but I understand his film was probably too difficult for the Academy. ☹️

Love how they have the category name in huge shimmering foil on the audience facing side of the winner envelopes this year
