Also, more details about how much Addison Russel sucks came out today. One of the "highlights" is that he paid $600 of child support in quarters and single dollar bills.
Please just cut his ass already

Tbh, not that I really wanna go anywhere near the hill of defending Schilling, let alone die on it, I think he deserves to be a Hall-of-Famer.
That said, maybe the Hall / fans can diss him enough that he skips the ceremony a la T.O. this year...cuz good lord will that be an ugly speech. At least it'll hopefully be the last time he is given any kind of platform in post-professional life.

As long as Schilling doesn't get in over Mussina.
The alleged "PED" guys like Clemens getting left out is kind of incomprehensible after Pudge Rodriguez got in. I think all of those guys should be in regardless, but it's fun to see Edgar Martinez get in because boy did he develop some power in the mid 90s when he was entering his mid 30s! He was probably doing crossfit!

There is literally no reason for him to be on this team I don't disagree, but asking two guys that spent more than 75% of their time in the OF last year to become an every day second baseman seems like a tall task.

Here you fucking go.

Ugh Schilling is gonna get in and rant about Obama being a Kenyan at his induction: I love to see the support Walker is getting. Rolen is getting screwed.

Puig and Kemp are going to the Reds. The Dodgers are definitely going to sign Harper now. Fuuuuuuck.

Great now there are 4 good to great teams in the NL Central + the pirates. Reds currently have a 4 man rotation headed by Anthony DeSclafani who posted a 4.93 ERA. They got more dangerous sure, but I still think they're a .500 or below team at the moment

I doubt they're done.

It seems a number of teams are ready to move back into contention mode. Unfortunately for my Pale Hose unless they sign Harper or Machado (I don't think they land either) I don't think that will be the case.

Has anyone in the al central done anything very positive at all?

Cleveland dumped a shitty contract on the White Sox, and now will presumably maintain a very good rotation.

Has anyone in the al central done anything very positive at all? It's not a lot, but the Royals signed Billy Jackson from the Reds to play center field and steal bases. FWIW, they also re-signed Terrence Gore. Looks the Royals want to run even more this year.

Yea between shedding Alonso and Gomes plus the EE contract (which is basically negated by taking on Santana but still) - Cleveland is theoretically about 20 million under our typical budget, after accounting for projected arbitration raises. So that money now exists to potentially fill the gaping hole in our OF - the question is tho whether we will a.) sign a free agent, b.) trade prospects for a veteran OF whose salary we can now afford, c.) trade Kluber for OF'ers, or d.) hang on to our current lineup with like 6 players that need platooned.
Honestly I'd rank them about b > c > a > d in terms of probability. I don't see us going after any substantial FA that's left. Maybe we'll bargain shop for a gently used older player whose value tanked (a la recent outfield alumni Austin Jackson or Melky Cabrera), but I'd be shocked if they went for someone like Pollock, etc.

FWIW, if the Sox manage to strike out on both Machado and Harper, there are some good options available that will make the team more competitive next season and beyond. I'd love them to take a risk on AJ Pollock. Right now they're looking at a 70 win team with any type of improvement from the second year players plus the addition of an almost full year of Eloy. I don't think it would take much to get them back to .500, and then it's just counting on them being a bit lucky.

Dude is making 9 mil and that's pretty comparable for what he'll contribute. Given what first basemen with Alonso's production have been getting on the open market, and what the White Sox had to give up to get him, I think $9M is an overpay. The White Sox had the payroll flexibility to do it though, so I guess Hahn figured why not.

I want machado to sign with the Sox but he will probably go to the Yankees because evil empire.
Harper is almost certainly going to go to the Dodgers.
The cubs still have Addison russel on the team

I think Machado ends up in Philly, because I think they will end up offering the most money.
I agree the Dodgers look like to most likely landing spot for Harper now.
I don't know what the Cubs/Theo are thinking, the bad press alone should be enough reason to DFA him.

I think Machado ends up with the Sox. No idea where Harper ends up. Yankees apparently aren't going to be close to a top bidder for Machado, and I think the Sox will win out.
