thoughts from the couch
caught some of late night drive home as i eased into my living room this afternoon. it was unquestionably awful. i surfed around the apple tv a bit to familiarize myself with the youtube layout of the channels, but mostly to shut them the fuck off.
the japanese house was a nice act to get things properly started off with. apparently some sound issues here but nothing that mid-day coachella sets are any stranger to. tbh i was on the phone with my mom for most of this set and mom was really doing great, so i just rode the vibe here. which brings me to
chappell roan. i like this girl. she's got a polished record sound and a raw stage presence that reminds me of the best things about charli xcx.
next up was sabrina carpenter. i thought i would be all-aboard the horny pop express, but i was never once really sold by her performance. nerves showing through with multiple "wait guys" moments that made me cringe a lil
deftones, tinashe, and for the most part black country new road belong to a group of sets i did not completely watch but saw decent parts of each, nothing to really remark on any of their sets
peso pluma has an insane stage show and its slightly difficult to believe he is not outright headlining coachella
justice knocked me right back; i would really like to see these guys just put on a heater of a set somewhere
the set pieces, costumes, and choreo around lana del rey make for a decent show, but my god. she could borrow a little autotune from sabrina carpenter. eek. still glad she's headlining, she's got such a deep bag to pull from and really make a cool show out of.
goooooood first day couchella

Tbh, I kinda enjoyed this set on the webcast, but had no idea it was supposed to a hologram, not would I ever attend a festival just to see a virtual performer.

I caught Anti Up on replay today and that was dope. Kind of reminded me a bit of Underworld

Guess I'll check out "Sublime" After The Last Dinner Party. its hard to care about sublime but i have to admit, sublime > blur > no doubt is insane nostalgia programming also, i am watching the purple disco machine before sublime, and so far the only two things he's dropped have been axel f and one more time, the people there don't even really seem like they're that into it lol
