yeah i didnt realize it until i made the playlist and all the solo artists names in the undercard that i just assumed were edm (because i am an old) ended up being pop, r&b, folk, and more idm downtempo stuff. definitely not complaining about the change I also went through the whole lineup yesterday, and came to the same conclusion: "Holy shit, there's a lot of downtempo R&B on this poster." They really should have booked Sade, dammit. |

Anyone who's going to this who didn't see X Japan at Lolla 2010 is in for a treat. edit: Surprised at no Judas Priest. That seemed like a very Paul Tollett booking. Very this. Oshoney convinced me to see X Japan, and I smiled like a damn idiot the whole time. |

and y'all were saying the lineup was weak!!! The lineup is weak. But I have been craving the polo fields. And there are some major gems. Also: forewarning: there is a chance I won't make it to the fest until Friday evening. Hoping and pulling for that not to happen, but it's all job-dependent. |

I just posted this over on the Coachella board, but figured y'all might enjoy it, too. Here's some info on each of the artists on the poster. Ignoring the Do Lab, because, I mean.  Robert Bose • WebsiteEven if you don't know his name, you know his balloon chain. It's here every year.  Randy Polumbo • WebsiteAn American sculptor and photographer, currently creating these psychedelic "grottos" filled with libidinous, tumescent, multi-colored pieces of hand-blown glass. I imagine we're looking at something like his installation for MONA or his piece for the Bombay Beach Biennale by the Salton Sea. Either way, there's gonna be a line to view the interior.  Edoardo Tresoldi • WebsiteA Milanese 29-year-old who explores architecture and space by creating monumental, ghostly structures out of mesh.  Simón Vega • WebsiteVega is an interdisciplinary artist, but we're almost certainly looking at one of his space-age sculptures inspired by (and crafted from) the materials found in the makeshift structures which populate the markets and beaches of his native El Salvador  NEWSUBSTANCE • WebsiteAs mentioned above, this could be anything. It could mean another drone performance, yes (although NEWSUBSTANCE has a specific brand for their drone work "Interstellar.")
