I would be sad to see him go, but he'll likely be on the decline by the time this team is ready to contend again.

I'll mostly be sad to see him go because I'm worried Moncada will be too sad to hit.

I'm assuming the package would be something like Sam Travis + lower level guys?

I'd still be surprised if he ends up being dealt, but that's probably me reading too much into Hahn's past comments.

White Sox signed Wellington Castillo to a two year deal with a club option for a third.

Stanton wanting to be traded to the Dodgers because they're his hometown team but actually maybe getting traded to the Giants instead is fantastic

Ohtani has basically narrowed down his choices to SF and Seattle.
And yeah, I love that Castillo deal. Even if he doesn't duplicate last season, he'll be saving a ton of runs over what the Sox would have started otherwise. Great for a young pitching staff.

Top five? I'd say:
1 Giants 2 Mariners 3 Dodgers 4 Cubs 5 Padres

Also a big fan of the Castillo deal but I hope Narvaez gets to stay as the backup. Love that guy.

As much as I would be stoked about him coming to Chicago, I think the Mariners are the front-runners here

disappointed he's not going to yankees, of course. but now i just hope he goes to the padres or, i guess, the mariners. don't want him on a team that's already a world series contender.

Cubs are signing Tyler Chatwood to a 3 year deal worth "around $40M". That seems like a lot of money for a mediocre pitcher but maybe Theo knows something I don't.
Edit: Exact number is $38M.

Yeah home/road splits for Chatwood are kind of extreme. He'll benefit from not being in Colorado. I was hoping the Sox would make a run at him, but interest has been pretty high. Sadly doesn't fit the reclamation project mold.

Sure, but even with that said it still seems like a lot of money to me. Dude has never shown sustained success or durability.

It isn't crazy money for a 27 year old starting pitcher that is going to fall in as your #4 or #5. It is the same money the Cubs paid Lackey per year. I kind of love the move looking at the road splits.

Mariners get Dee Gordon and $1M in int'l bonus money for prospects.
I wonder if they're close to landing Ohtani? Sure seems to fit what he's supposedly looking for.

Yeah it'll be interesting to see how aggressive they get on the pitching market. Their farm system is not very good
