But it's so much more campy than the first.

Xam it's based on a true story Jesus. That all actually happened to Keanu Reeves.

But it's so much more campy than the first. I am of the opinion that sequels like this should ramp up the ridiculousness

Hey guys I saw Atomic Blonde last night and it's a solid 7/10. David Leitch somehow found a way to make a hyper-stylized action movie with an even dumber plot than John Wick; it is somehow both more straightforward and more convoluted than either JW movies.
If this movie was released a few years ago it would've been a little more impressive to me. Not only does it have to live in John Wick's shadow, but the 80s worship has already been done to death. There are two versions of 'Blue Monday' in this movie, as well as two versions of '99 Luftballoons.' At one point Charlize gets kicked through an East Berlin screening of Stalker, in case you didn't realize this movie took place during the Cold War. The soundtrack is 'cool' but about half of the time the songs felt forced - although it might not help that it came out so close to Baby Driver.
Anyway Charlize Theron is incredible, obviously the biggest reason to see this. You can tell she's pulping the fuck out of every scene, where as Keanu just kind of does that incidentally. She uses significantly less gun-fu than JW, the fights are gorgeously choreographed for action fetishists but in a more brutal, desperate bar-fight kind of way.
Oh also I saw Dunkirk but that was a 10/10 and probably less fun to talk about. Most likely Nolan's best.

Dunkirk was really good but it didn't really blow me away like I expected from all the hype. Still extremely well made and had me holding my breath half the movie though, very worth a watch.
the screening I went to was a bit disappointing. I did a 70mm one but the screen wasn't all that big and the sound system wasn't all that loud. I almost wish I had just done the IMAX digital screening here instead (they weren't doing IMAX 70mm in Houston)

I have a whole Holy Chicken! story about how Morgan Spurlock came and tricked the mayor and 'educated' Columbus but I'm on my phone so maybe I'll type it out later.

Yeah I just read an article about that out of curiosity and he comes off as nothing but a douche for doing this. "I tricked you! You're all so dumb!" Basically. Short version: he opened 'Holy Chicken!' and made a big deal about opening a farm-raised, natural, organic, whatever restaurant for Midwest people. Like, he made a real big deal. And then the mayor made a big deal and promoted it for health stuff. And then of course it was just fast food that Morgan had made look nice and he went, 'See how restaurants lie to you?' Like, no shit Morgan. Everyone was mad at him. A lot of people were mad at the people that fell for it. This was all to be expected: Morgan Spurlocl sucks.

hoping some article comes out today with more of an explanation about the film. you have to figure it's got more to it than the stunt that pissed everyone off lol
hopefully it's more about the ways marketing disguise shitty food in general and not just this stunt.

Also totally ignoring the fact that his status and reputation has on the business and hype.

It's because of his status and reputation too that is was crazy how so many people fell for it. Of COURSE he had a point to prove.
But yeah avb the focus seems to be on marketing and I'm sure the film will have a wider reach than the one Columbus restaurant. I've never liked him or found his work insightful, though. Like, eating McDonald's for a month straight is bad for you? Never would've guessed.

Still haven't seen The Following or Dunkirk:
Memento Insomnia Batman Begins Inception The Prestige Dark Knight Dark Knight Rises Interstellar
And I didn't even hate Interstellar.

I enjoyed TDKR in theaters so I don't understand the hate for it, but maybe it warrants a rewatch to see if that's changed...

whoops prestige should definitely be above insomnia for me. maybe BB too. but it's been so long since i've seen either.
Prestige isn't cream of the crop for me (some plot issues i remember taking umbrage with) but overall i really enjoyed it in theaters and it's got a fun replay value for sure.
also BowieTesla

I enjoyed TDKR in theaters so I don't understand the hate for it, but maybe it warrants a rewatch to see if that's changed... When you strip away the visual awe of it, the plot is entirely nonsensical. Even farcical by the end. Ben Mendelsohn does the worst acting of his life. Same with Marion Cottilard. Normal Cop Man becomes Batman.

Normal Cop Man becomes Batman. Honestly, this is probably very true. I assume I got hit with the "Star Wars prequel effect" wherein a lot of people walking out of the theaters back then thought they had seen great films given their anticipation but later came to realize it was trash. I need to rewatch to make sure though.
