Yeah that's a movie I had to watch twice just because I couldn't understand some of the Bane dialogue and the second time through it was kind of a confusing mess of a story.
Prestige was a solid movie. I feel like people look at lists like this and automatically assume that anything outside of the top 3 are viewed as bad. I don't really feel like there's all that much separating Prestige and Inception on my list.

agreed with bane. the leaked con videos when he had the deeper voice were so much more impressive than whatever they went with later.
also nolan's obsession with hard cuts and refusing to explain transitions definitely hinders TDKR when it comes to characters magically spanning vast distances with little to no means of travel.
also what irving said about the bad acting from good actors.
it also just comes off as very flashy and borderline michael bay esque at times after nolan spent so much time in BB and TDK trying to establish a more realistic and sensible application of the superhero arc.

Sure, these are all well made movies, no question, it just surprises me that folks would put the Batmans above it.

Batman Begins is pretty much my idea of a perfect comic book movie.

I got TDKR from Redbox and fell asleep halfway through. I never finished it and I forgot to return it so I basically paid $25 to watch half of that shit movie.

Memento The Dark Knight Inception Dunkirk Batman Begins The Prestige Insomnia Dark Knight Returns Interstellar
I need to rewatch The Prestige and I haven't seen Following. I think I love The Dark Knight a little more than your average film buff sort of person. I also don't hate any of these movies. TDKR and Interstellar have plenty of redeeming qualities still

I still like the Dark Knight Rises for what it is. Expectations were through the roof after TDK, so it's not really surprising that it pales in comparison to the first two. I personally didn't have a problem with Bane's voice.
Interstellar is 2/3 a good movie, the last 1/3 was shit. The rest of his movies are all still top notch in my book, I just prefer Memento/TDK/Inception to the rest.

I may have mentioned this before on here, but the special ed DVD of Memento has a feature where you can watch the movie in chronological order.

that seems like it'd ruin it, like watching pulp fiction in chronological order

Batman Begins is pretty much my idea of a perfect comic book movie. amen def prefer BB over TDK I used to feel this way but now they're like neck and neck in my mind. BB is the perfect reintroduction to the character but The Joker is just such a better presence than Scarecrow/Ra's Al Ghul.

is this the part where i rehash my argument that i thought Harvey Dent was a way more interesting antagonist (ultimately) than the Joker?
cause yeah.

I mean, I saw TDK first and it's a special movie to me so I'm just gonna like it more than any other comic book movie personally. Seeing Hans perform the soundtrack last week really cemented my modern love for it. tbf, I'm also not a big comic book movie guy.

I do agree though that he doesn't get as much credit as he should. I kind of wish he'd been introduced in BB instead of the rando DA that gets killed off. His transformation into Two-Face would be more powerful if we'd had Harvey for a few years.

TDK's still the best comic book movie of all time imo. It feels so much more realistic than Batman Begins (except for the sonar stuff). Has such a Heat feel to it too, and it's stunts are wonderful, a perfect score as already mentioned, and of course Heath Ledger's total embodiment of the Joker. There's very minor things that I don't like about it - poor dialogue in some small parts, a few plot holes, etc. It just feels like I'm reading another great Batman story develop on screen. I can see why it's not everyone's favorite, but it's still tops for me.

Ol' Greggo has been pushing me to watch this for a few months and I was hesitant because while I knew I'd probably like it, sitting down for a 4 hour film is a daunting task. Oh man, I'm ashamed to have slept on this masterpiece for so long. It's the sign of a great film that it never gets boring once and after four hours you're still hungry for more. Does things I've never seen before in a film, continues to up the stakes in brilliant fashion, has the best characters I've seen in recent memories... can't recommend it enough. After digesting it, this could end up on my all-time favs list.

Saw The Dark Tower last night. I knew going in that it wouldn't be very good, but being such a massive King/DT fan, I had to go anyway. Sometimes, it's kinda nice going into a movie knowing it won't even remotely live up to expectations ahead of time. I didn't hate it. I wasn't particularly offended by it. It just seems like a massive wasted opportunity or at best, just an alternate opportunity. It was odd seeing such a massive epic turned into something so brief. Hopefully, the upcoming show does it justice more better. Also, finally watched The Green Inferno. Loved it.

The Dark Tower TV series sounds like it could salvage what the movie screwed up, so that's good. I think it probably works better as a TV show anyway.

Supposedly, they're going to do just Wizard and Glass for the show? I hope that's not accurate and they're going to work through all the books.

Does anyone know if a fourth Planet of the Apes is on the plans?
In any case really hoping so as I loved the third movie (just like the first two of this new take at this saga)

I heard the movie was pretty mediocre but still wanted to go see it since I'm (or at least, used to be) a big fan of King

Lost City of Z - good. long, but good. I was surprised that Hunnam could do a british accent so well, until I IMDB'd him and found out he's from the UK.
Kong Skull Island - fun, for what it's worth. John C. Reilly is a scene stealer every time.
rewatched:
All of the Indian Jones movies - why? I don't know. Temple of Doom has not aged well. Raiders and Crusade still work on a majority of their levels, but Doom is just bad. I have yet to watch Crystal Skull after turning it off 5 mins in a few weeks back.
Tropic Thunder - Hadn't watched this in years but it surprisingly holds up well. Jack Black is still the most annoying part of it, but still manages to have some of the funniest lines. I found Tom Cruise less funny this time around, but recall thinking he was the best part originally. Robert Downey Jr. though, gotdamn. Absolutely the best part.

The Shining in millennium park last night was lovely. huge surround sound definitely only helps to make everything creepier. crowd was surprisingly quiet and respectful.
would do again if they played better movies like that.

That's really nice. When I saw it in a theater, half the crowd was laughing throughout. I get it, nervous tension, yadda yadda, but still.
