It Comes at Night wasn't bad, but I'm not in love with it.
I just saw Paris Can Wait, and damn, even though it's more the French countryside and Paris is barely in it, I cannot wait to get to Paris next month. So many gorgeous meals in that movie.

I'm seeing it this afternoon. Always game for a new horror movie, although I somehow haven't seen Get Out yet.

Get Out is great. Maybe a little underwhelming if you go in expecting pure horror but it has its charms in other ways. I stand by thinking the ending (really the entire third act) was schlock, though.

I have a good tagline for the new Mummy movie:
DIE. REPEAT. MUMMIFY.

Definitely see Get Out next chance you get, though. Definitely not horror. Not sure what genre I'd call that. Also not sure how I feel about the movie.

If it came out in the 90's it would have been called a psychological thriller.

I think the New York Times just released what could be the worst list for "top 25 films of the past century"

funny my coworker and i were looking at that a few days ago and thought they did a pretty great job with it, considering the scope

i assume you mean their list of the top 25 films of this century so far that came out recently?
obviously, i'd make some changes myself, but it seems pretty solid. what do you think is wrong with it?

I dug the NYT list, despite some weird inclusions that would never make mine -- it was refreshing because it was a list that would never come about by polling a bunch of critics, which gets pretty boring after a while.
I kind of liked the approach of combining movies that represented something important about recent film history with singular stand-outs. It's not a consensus list and also doesn't reek of a single person trying to make an "interesting" list. And it covers some areas that don't usually get proper kudos in these sorts of lists.

I'm baffled that anyone could call a list of 25 where they agreed with the 7 of them the worst list of all time. There are so many movies!!!!

i'd consider uncle boonmee, a separation, in the mood for love and mulholland drive the biggest snubs of the list but I don't mind since what they came up with is pretty cool
