I don’t think Lady Bird will win everything but there’s definitely some stuff I wouldn’t be surprised by. I think getting as many Oscar nominations as it did counts as momentum. Either way, I’m not thrilled that I’m gonna see Darkest Hour but hey at least I have moviepass.
Hi bosma I see you liking my post about the three hour guns and roses set. I haven’t forgotten about when you hated on guns and roses on this board, so I’m using this top of the page to put you on blast. Stop being a fake motherfucker. It’ll get you further in life in the long run.
Happy Deakins got a nom for BR. In my dream world and only in my dream world Blade Runner would've gotten a BP nom, along with Florida Project, and we'd cut Darkest Hour out of everything.
It's all about Shape of Water and Three Billboards now.
McDonagh not getting a best director nomination makes me wonder if it’s momentum has slowed down:
its momentum should've slowed down after all of twitter decided it was a bad movie without seeing it.
surprised it still cleaned up at the SAG awards but not expecting it to get best picture here. rockwell probably wont win at this point either. (i'll be sad if Frances doesnt get hers tho)
i figured lady bird was the easy pick since the oscars almost always go with safe choices but idk maybe shape of water fits that mold more this year
Hopefully Nolan gets a win, I think it's such an easy choice for the category
eek.
i mean he certainly did a better job than he did with the past few films but i think i'd still go with GDT or even Peele over Nolan this time. (havent seen Phantom Thread yet)

At this point the 'safe' pick would be The Post but no one wants to see that actually happen.
also yeah Darkest Hour has no place anywhere except lead actor.
also Blade Runner 2049 only getting cinematography and visuals (which im sure will lose to Shape of Water) and sound (which always goes to Nolan films for reasons no one can explain to me) is such a bummer.
But why? She's already won tons of awards for Fargo, and she's highly respected in the industry. The award really wouldn't boost her career like it would someone else's. I agree with her: let someone else win. Sally Hawkins is amazing and has been overlooked for a long time. Saoirse Ronan has been doing good work. Either of them would be extremely deserving.
