But why? She's already won tons of awards for Fargo, and she's highly respected in the industry. The award really wouldn't boost her career like it would someone else's. I agree with her: let someone else win. Sally Hawkins is amazing and has been overlooked for a long time. Saoirse Ronan has been doing good work. Either of them would be extremely deserving. A Best Actress award isn’t given out to boost someone’s career.

Can you point to where I said it did?
I asked for why it would be sad if she didn't get "hers".

I'd be shocked if it's not Lady Bird, Shape of Water, or Three Billboards for Best Picture.

True, I don't mind Del Toro winning at all. I just think what Nolan was able to do on that scale and create almost a perfect film, he should win. fair enough. he did a great job. i just think i maybe liked what GDT and Peele did a bit more, but it's honestly a great pool of choices for directors this year regardless.

Frances McDormand will win. There’s not even the slightest chance she doesn’t.

Mudbound only getting one acting nom is crazy to me. I agree but it really is a tight year. They could've bumped Woody Harrelson and given a spot to Hedlund or Mitchell, though.

mudbound would have gotten way more awards if it were a traditional theatrical release.

Any of the other four noms deserve it over her. I’m not saying she should win. Just that the Academy loves her. I rank her behind Ronan and Hawkins as far as performances go in that category.

Are folks fine with the 10/30 requirements in the list thread? It's what seemed right off of the top of my head, but I'm open to change.

Bobby O gave the best performance of a shit movie but no tears on him not getting a nom His accent was the fakest, most irritating thing about The Post. He physically talked out of the side of his mouth to do it and it just looked so awkward.
