Yeah. Also, it's going to Sonar in June and apparently the setup costs an obscene amount of money to ship internationally, so once it's back in Europe it'll probably stay over there for a reaaaal long time.

In that case they should hit up some other cities in America before shipping it back.

Has anyone been to Highline Ballroom? Looks like a weird dinner-theatre-style setup. Wondering if there’s a GA standing area close-ish to the stage.

Okay big question coming up...
I've been toying with the possibility for a few months, but after locking down a summer internship yesterday I'll finally be biting the bullet and moving to New York! I'm very nervous for this move - as I've grown comfortable in Chicago over the last four years, but my gf's from the city and is already excited to help me apartment hunt, etc.
I know there're a few NYC boarders here so I'll leave the biggest question on my mind to y'all. What are the most relevant venues in the city? I've heard of a couple just through tour announcements, etc, but where do y'all find yourself catching shows at most often? Whose schedule's ought I check out? I figure I'll gain familiarity sooner rather than later, but I'd love a head-start. And stay tuned for other, maybe more life-important questions later lol.

There are three promoters that book most of the small to mid-range venues in NYC. 1) The Bowery Presents (AEG) www.bowerypresents.com/2) Mercury East (Live Nation) www.mercuryeastpresents.com/boweryballroom/3) Popgun Presents (Independent) www.popgunpresents.com/events/You can browse all the shows through their sites. If that is overwhelming, I find myself at the Bowery Presents venues (Rough Trade/BK Steel/Music Hall of Williamsburg), Baby's All Right, and Kings Theatre most often for shows. Also Elsewhere (Brooklyn) is new and I plan to go there a few times this spring/summer. The Summer is a jam packed time for music in the City. Forest Hills Stadium always has a great lineup, Bric Celebrate Brooklyn hosts a lot of free shows and benefit shows, and Central Park Summerstage also has a ton of free/paid shows. Hope this helps

Glad to hear we'll have another boarder in NYC! Do you already know what neighborhood you'll be living in?
I second Oh My Rockness - I check out their new shows email every week, but honestly, most of it is old news that I've already heard about via the Upcoming Shows thread. I follow places like @mercuryeast, @boweryballrom, @brooklynsteel and @warsawconcerts on Twitter. and subscribe to email updates from places like the Bell House and Forest Hills.
I see a lot of shows at: Beacon Theatre, The Bell House, Bowery Ballroom, Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn Steel, Forest Hills Stadium, Kings Theatre, Mercury Lounge, Music Hall of Williamsburg, Prospect Park Bandshell, Rough Trade, Town Hall and Warsaw. (And of course Barclays Center and Madison Square Garden for arena-level acts).
To a lesser extent: Apollo Theatre, Baby's All Right, Brooklyn Bazaar, City Winery, Rockwood Music Hall and Union Hall.
Murmrr Theatre by Grand Army Plaza is another newish venue.

That's what this board's for! Ain't that right, Bosma? It’s been pretty effective at reuniting me with both of my parents actually.
