Probably a long shot but does anyone have any experience with obstructed view seats at the Neil Simon Theatre? We're gonna be seeing Angels in America in June and I'm wondering if the view is particularly awful since the price difference is enormous.

Has anyone ever taken a Rocks Off cruise where it's a three hour ride on a big ol' paddle wheel boat with a band performance? Most of them are tribute bands, but Yo La Tengo is doing one in June. I can imagine it being either a blast or a nightmare.

I did one of these (different booker obviously) at SXSW a few years back that was Coachwhips/Kelley Stoltz/Destruction Unit and it was an open bar and the first trip of the day drank everything other than vodka and water and it is to this day one of my favorite shows of all time. The new york one is probably more professional but yo la tengo ona nice night with the skyline seems awesome

true. it says a lot more bands are being added and it starts at 5:30, so assuming they're taking over both rooms of elsewhere it'll prob have a lot going on.

there are some other northside shows announced. i think the liz phair nyc show is part of it. none of the main park shows have been announced, though.

I was prepared to be completely underwhelmed by the announcement today. They must have made a booking agent. I am beyond thrilled. Especially looking forward to Gary Clark, Jr., Jayhawks, Aimee Mann/Superchunk, Breeders, Brandi Carlile and Branford Marsalis. Already had tickets for Decemberists and Courtney. Will try to get into Noname before August. And maybe this will be the year I finally see Los Lobos. Surprisingly, the only real conflict with standing summer plans is Anoushka Shankar.

I'm planning an NYC trip with some friends in early November. Just wanted to see if you guys had any recommendations for good neighborhoods in Brooklyn to target for a place. I'm leaning Greenpoint right now because it worked out so well last year - seems like a good base, but we had some transportation issues.

honestly i'd look at crown heights or prospect park south - cool areas (i'm in crown heights so), and you will have the 4 or q trains which will take u wherever

Bushwick around like the Morgan L stop is a good area to look. There was a bunch of new stuff around there when I went in December and it’s more along the L which is maybe better for more direct transportation.
