One thing I'm sad about is on the Tidal version of the newest Hurray for the Riff Raff album, for some reason they cut off that short last track that was the voice mail from her grandpa. I really liked it at the end, it was a great way to end that album. Not sure if they did the same on spotify and all

Amen Dunes and Knocked Out were both pretty good listens.
For my emo-adjacent pick of the week (making it a thing, I guess), I recommend the new album by Bummer Hill

Did lots of catching up today for May.
Dehd was okay, I liked their last one more.
Disappointed by Les Savy Fav, the first single Guzzle Blood showed potential but the album is meh.
Indifferent to Amen Dunes, but did listen and it was fine.
Knocked Loose wasn't my thing.
Mdou Moctar was good, I liked the last one more though.
I checked out this twikipedia project, and it's a lot like Parannoul which I dig. Dashes of emo and shoegaze. Good stuff.
Camera Obscura, Jessica Pratt, and Arab Strap are also great.

Halfway through Lip Critic and absolutely love it. Bought a ticket for their Subterranean show immediately. Beth Gibbons is fine, she doesn't try to make it sound like a Portishead album at all, which is fine

Got through the first half of the Cindy lee album which was...good....and then the stream crapped out on youtube for me and I don't feel compelled to finish the second half (1:07:29 is where I got stopped)...

Not a Billie fan by any means. You can probably say I dislike her music at an extent but her new album was good stuff. I think the length helped a lot.

Here's your emo-adjacent pick of the week (even though I think the only person who maybe listens to these is enjoying cheap wine at Primavera rn) , the new album from 95COROLLA ...

This is an extremely weird one that I encountered somehow and got very into almost immediately. I'm sure I am not the first to make this comparison but: if Nick Drake was alive in 1986, and you turned him on to experimental electronic music, he would have made this album. You might like this if you're into, like, King Krule maybe? Or like early Animal Collective? Or Xiu Xiu if he wasn't sad?

Went to a wedding down in Mobile over the weekend, and the day after Emma and I drove around the beach area chatting with her 20-year old cousin who lives in Virginia. Talking about how much she likes Hole and Fiona Apple and how it was bullshit how people treated Courtney after Kurt died. She was saying too how she's been listening to Bjork and likes her but doesn't love her yet - I was saying how I felt similarly until "Isobel" off Post blew me away. Anyways, the kids are alright.
