I’ve been on high alert ever since he started doing these pop up things. When he announced the First Ave date, I thought he’d stick around and do WI and Chicago. If all these places are booked up this weekend though, maybe not? Guess we’ll see come tomorrow and Saturday? Gotta be a bottle sized venue probably? Those are about the room sizes he’s been playing so far on this little tour.

Makes me think Chicago might be this weekend. Bottle, LH/Schubas and Metro are all booked all weekend. Maybe Milwaukee? (yes I know there are other venues here I'm assuming those are the most likely candidates) Metro is booked all weekend but they are open Mon-Weds next week. Thalia has Sunday and Tuesday open. The Bottle is totally booked for the next week. The Vic has Sunday-Wednesday open. Lincoln Hall is open Sunday. |

while everyone was at Justice or Drop Nineteens last night, the better half and I took advantage of our 3rd do312more ticket drop, and went to the aragon for opener blaqk audio, who were great (havok's performance kind of reminded the better half of David Bowie), and an okay, but not necessarily special half hour of headliner Sisters of Mercy (we left after the medley from Floodlands). Kind of ironic for a long time new wave hater like me, but I was happy we were there.
I think the 2 best sets we've seen so far this year are first, the Buzzcocks at riot fest, even without Pete, and secondly, Blaqk Audio. At the beginning of 2024, I'd never have predicted that.
Tonight is the free xrt Tix to the mid balcony of the auditorium for Leon Bridges, who has been on my radar since 2019.

today: opener Hermanos Gutierrez need to pick up the tempo if they ever want to become Roderigo y Gabriela. a whole hour for an opening act instrumental duo is too much -- let's play faster, guys.
headliner Leon Bridges, who apparently wore himself out at the salt shed this afternoon, took his time tonight getting to his one hit wonder hit -- on prior setlists he didn't wait until the last song of the regular set to play it, but he did tonight. It got to be a little excruciating as we were definitely not the only audience members who were waiting to leave until he played it. especially as I wanted to get home to get ready for an add-on 1/2 day court day tomorrow that wasn't scheduled at the beginning of the month.
edit: per krentist in the reviews thread, apparently the show to have gone to tonight was Iron Maiden, not this mess.

Also it's kind of wild that Wisconsin is getting 3 shows (4 if you count the secret Vanguard show last night). I guess Jack has always seemed to enjoy playing Milwaukee. He kicked off the Boarding House Reach tour there in 2018.
