Gary Clark Jr. w/ Black Pistol Fire next week. I have tickets for night two but they released tickets for night one and the venue is around the corner from my apartment.
Is that too much guitar wankery for one week?
EDIT: I'll let you know come Wednesday. Worst-case I sell the single I just bought.

The Riv is perfectly fine. It's the same as every other venue on the planet.

Is the Chicago Blues Fest usually a shitshow a la Taste of Chicago/other stuff in Millennium Park? Debating whether it's worth it to go see Gary Clark on Sunday for free...

Welp, guess I get to see how bad the Riv is first hand, bought my tMG ticket. Chicago boarders are spoiled. Yes, the Riv is not as good as many Chicago venues, but it's better than a lot of the venues in many other cities.

Wasn't thrilled with The Riv again last night, the floor was too packed in for people to really move around.
Regardless: Future Islands were terrific and Sam is a machine.

the plus side for the mountain goats show is it won't be sold out which will alleviate many of the problems of the riv.
it's like how a non-sold out terminal 5 show is basically fine, assuming everyone isn't talking.

"The inter-continental duo will share the stage, performing songs off their upcoming album as well as delving into their respective back catalogues and covering a bunch of classics, all backed by their band ‘The Sea Lice,’ a revolving cast of musicians including Janet Weiss (Sleater-Kinney, Wild Flag), Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint), Rob Laakso (The Violators, The Swirlies, Mice Parade) and Katie Harkin (Harkin, Sky Larkin and touring member of Sleater-Kinney and Wild Beasts). “A cookin’ band and an intercontinental country duo for the ages—minus the country,” says Vile."
and jen cloher is opening the tour. yesssss

Whoa that's awesome.
I somehow missed the boat on Kurt Vile/The War on Drugs but I've been listening to them constantly for about a year. Should be an amazing show.

That should be a pretty wicked show. Oddly enough, I'm more excited about new Kurt Vile material than Courtney material.
