The fan code worked for me today. After releasing totally awful seats for 5 minutes, I settled on a pair of crap seats on the main floor in CC (which was better than anything I was pulling yesterday). Then I went back in later and pulled up Row N. Fuck me and fuck this algorithm of offering random seats.
Serious question about the TM site, though. Yesterday it looked different, giving me several options of tickets from which to choose, and when I'd choose a pair it would always tell me that someone else had bought them. Today I went in on a different computer and it was more like what I expected. It offered me ONE pair of "the best" tickets available and they were mine to keep or release. Is that a browser thing? WTF was I looking at yestetrday?

Yeah Red Rocks prices are usually pretty steep. Good news is that they often drop below face on secondary sites before the show.

Spotify presale code was THESYSTEM, same thing the European code was.
Managed to get Pit DDD for Tuesday and MAINFL CC for Wednesday. Decent enough. Think my Pit seat is way on the side.

Pinback doing two nights at the Bottom Lounge 10/11-12 Pretty sure these are Autumn of the Seraph's anniversary shows. They'll be playing the album in full.

pinback two-nighters are usually Autumn in full the first night and then a regular show the next night.

I am becoming more and more convinced that Ticketmaster does reverse selling for many of their presales (and possibly their regular onsales, too) where they offer less desirable tickets first, let the rabid fans snatch them up and then offer the better available seats after they've sold through the not-so-great inventory. As for the user interface, there seems to be either two or three different scenarios: 1. The typical set-up where you select either "best available" or a seating/pricing tier and the system offers you a single set of tickets. 2. The new detailed map set-up where you can zoom in and pick your individual seats. This set-up is usually accompanied by... 3. The new "multiple offers" set-up that lists a number of options with just section and row information (not seat info - you have to add them to your cart to see the seat numbers). When you seat the "multiple offers" set-up, you should be able to zoom in on the venue map. As you zoom in, the individual seats should come into view. Of course, when shows first go on sale, they almost always use scenario #1. When hundreds or thousands are requesting seats at the same time, scenario #2/#3 don't work so well. I'm also wondering if the Civic Opera House doesn't have a detailed map set up with TM.

I'm also wondering if the Civic Opera House doesn't have a detailed map set up with TM. I'm OK with the algorithm that release some chaff with the wheat to see if they can get any suckers to bite. I'm not averse to clicking through for 10 minutes until I get something that's acceptable to me. It's the user interface #3 that I was stuck with on Monday that was problematic. I'd get offered 6 pairs of seats at the same time. When I saw something I liked (like BBB in the pit, which came up after about 10 minutes of dicking around), I'd click on it and get the message...sorry these are gone, someone else beat you to them. Then I'd reset the ticket list to get 6 new pairs of seats and the fucking BBB seats were still in the list. So, what that suggests is, when they use option 3, the offering array remains static until/unless all of the pairs offered are gone. That's a shitty business model, but I guess if it gets someone to bite at the crap seats at the back because those are the only ones that appear to be available to you, maybe it's a valid business model. What I can't figure out is how to ENSURE that I get interface #1 instead of #3. On Tuesday, when I went back in during the Spotify presale, one computer gave me interface 1 (bringing up one pair of tickets that were MINE until/unless I released them) while a second computer had interface #3 again.

(in cranky old man voice) i remember back in the day when we had to wait in line overnight at an outlet and just hope they had good seats and that some other outlet across town had the junk ones. it was so random and unless you knew someone that worked there and could tell you the night before what they had, you were just rolling the dice...
