I won my way into Caroline Polachek next week, but just realized it starts at 9pm with two openers?? That's like a Bottle schedule why are they doing that?

I've been to TNK shows before, I don't remember the late start time though. Is that always the case?

the open mike eagle TNK show starts at 7 supposedly...
also, that's a solo show now, wasn't it originally supposed to be some show for his new TV show?

What should I ask for from them? I don't have anything even tentatively marked on my calendar this month.

Yeah I don't think any of those are a realistic ask.
Something that probably is realistic that I have my eye on from Do312 More is Thom Yorke. Despite taking the 300 hundred level off sale it's still massively undersold. Should be lots of freebies for that one.

The Robinson Brothers present the Black Crowes in the least credible way possible also looks like a mass giveaway waiting to happen. That might be too far out though.

Yeah I'm not worried about getting shit tickets during January/February because the summer/fall giveaways in 2019 were legitimately great

This is a general question but I know at least chvrchbarrel will probably have insight Is it just not logistically possible to have an affordable arena show? I feel like every artist that comes through thats arguably playing up, like bigger venue than they probably should be, still charges a shit ton even though there's a ton more seats. Tame Impala at the arena here looks like it's sold terribly, and it's probably partly because nosebleeds start at $52 before fees. And the lower bowl is selling even worse than the upper bowls and those are like $85 before fees which is kind of ridiculous. And we saw Chance cancel his whole tour due to sales and a lot of that had to be due to the high ticket costs. And I feel like it happens with nearly every indie band that plays arenas outside of NYC and LA. Does the production costs and crew and stuff that an arena show requires just cost a ton and force their hand, or are whoever sets these ticket prices just really terrible at finding the happy medium with cost and demand? I gotta imagine they aren't making a huge profit with a half empty arena regardless of price

It's definitely possible. Vulfpeck just played MSG a few months ago with tickets priced at $25 (the show sold out as well).
I posted a WSJ article about this a few pages back, where a source was quoted as saying often the artist wants to get top dollar, and so the show is priced accordingly. Live Nation is actively and openly trying to squeeze out the secondary market, so the promoters and artists keep the lions share of revenue generated from ticket sales, and fans pay top dollar every time. I'm sure they have an algorithm that tells them the approx number of tickets they need to sell for each show in order to make money, because they are clearly fine with hosting shows at venues that are way too large and won't come close to selling out (Thom Yorke and Nas & Badu at the UC, half of Tinley's shows every summer are some examples that come to mind).
