Gonna wait to see what ticket prices are, and then see if the girlfriend wants to go.

Same day as Thom Yorke here Edit: of course top of page. That's about PJ in St. Louis If it was a proper RH show, I’d stay here for it. Thom solo is great don’t get me wrong, but I’ll be in STL that day!

This is a general question but I know at least chvrchbarrel will probably have insight Is it just not logistically possible to have an affordable arena show? I feel like every artist that comes through thats arguably playing up, like bigger venue than they probably should be, still charges a shit ton even though there's a ton more seats. Tame Impala at the arena here looks like it's sold terribly, and it's probably partly because nosebleeds start at $52 before fees. And the lower bowl is selling even worse than the upper bowls and those are like $85 before fees which is kind of ridiculous. And we saw Chance cancel his whole tour due to sales and a lot of that had to be due to the high ticket costs. And I feel like it happens with nearly every indie band that plays arenas outside of NYC and LA. Does the production costs and crew and stuff that an arena show requires just cost a ton and force their hand, or are whoever sets these ticket prices just really terrible at finding the happy medium with cost and demand? I gotta imagine they aren't making a huge profit with a half empty arena regardless of price How big the production is can definitely play a hand, but I think its really more of a market thing. Chance's guarantee is probably so high that the sheer thought of doing it anywhere smaller than a shed / arena would make the ticket price even more laughable than it already was. Live Nation are also just trying to control the conversation about how much concert tickets should actually cost. Keep an eye on those ticket prices, as Live Nation keeps moving more toward dynamic pricing. You may see several adjustments made based on sales trends. It may stand to reason that if X% of tickets are sold during the first month of the onsale, Live Nation sets prices higher than their true market value during that time frame because they know that X% are willing to pay "whatever it costs" to go. What's more interesting to me is that Live Nation, having such a stake in the secondary market these days, isn't intentionally pricing tickets lower. Box office profits usually hit a certain point where they have to be shared with the artist...but once the ticket is sold, any more money made off that ticket (in the secondary market) is no longer box office money. LN would basically just be pocketing extra commission at that point, and they'd make a hell of a lot more on secondary commissions if they sold low initially. Maybe that's some sort of illegal market fraud though, idk. Question: What's the cheapest P1 / lower bowl ticket you have bought for an arena show? Do not count times you bought a cheap nosebleed ticket and were re-located to the lower bowl. I think my answer would be Miley Cyrus on the Bangerz tour (2014); I think P1 was like $70. The Black Keys' El Camino tour (2012) might have been a smidge lower at around $55-60.

Pearl Jam shows when they're touring a new album are rough. Just because you always wind up sitting next to Pearl Jam Fan Who is Really Into the New Album and wants to talk about The New Album.

My 10C membership renews on the 19th. I'm only planning on entering the lottery for pit tics for the STL show, so I'm hoping my chances are pretty good. Wherever they play in Chicago, I'll be at too, but really just want to hit up the nearest driving distance date for this batch of shows.
