I think it'll sell decently well. Describe "decently". Rammstein aren't moving 60k tickets. I have no idea what to expect from concerts anymore. Shit, we thought Motley wasn't going to sell well and they sold out everything instantly

Are there past examples of SF closing off full sections? I don't know of another time a band the size of Rammstein played a stadium like this.

The Crue thing is way different - there are more notable bands on the bill than just them, and even selling 20-30k tickets on their farewell tour is much closer to the 40k-ish it takes to sell out Wrigley Field.
Rammstein moving 20k tickets at Allstate Arena and then booking Soldier Field is confusing to me.

ugh - Soldier Field for Rammstein. Not my favorite venue, but makes sense given the spectacle that is a Rammstein show.
Any info on openers or prices yet? So many sites blocked for me at work.

Not sure what the capacity is at Seat Geek - but that stadium was pretty much wall to wall people when they played Chicago Open Air. Agree though that Soldier Field seems like a stretch.

COA was with a full day of music though and p cheap tickets. it was also their first "chicago" show since 2012. right now there's no openers and we dont know prices and they just played tinley in 2017. granted they have a new album finally but up for debate how much pull that will have (worked for Tool though?) im with Pale Hose tho that this will be very easy to get tickets for later on and they just decided to go with outdoor stadiums for the sake of their visuals, even if it doesn't fill up.
