I had Aurelio's over the weekend for the first time in like 18 months and it was amazing as always. It's probably my favorite thin crust in the entirety of Chicagoland. I am prepared to go down on this hill. Just googled this and it looks righteous and now I'm hungry, fuck

I went to Lou Malnati's and ate 3/4 of a large deep dish and then came home and passed out on the couch. That shit was good.
And then I also got a free order of wings to go. lol

Still free, but bummed I didn’t get to try those

I still have to go back this week because I have a free tiramisu that expires at the end of the month.

I know I'm in the minority here about Lou Malnati's Pizza (which I really don't like), but how is the tiramisu?

Had Pequod's tonight. They were pretty strict on their protocols and the pizza was fantastic as usual. Felt nice to be back in a restaurant.

i think i have to reconsider my position of "fuck roots pizza." besides being very close to home and baby- and dog-friendly, it's requiring employees to be vaccinated and is closing down for a day to offer 1,000 vaccines to people regardless of any insurance or immigration status. <3

That's a good reason for me to order from there or go there.

huh, that's cool. after i move, roots will be the closest pizza to home.
still will be within walking distance of fat chris and spacca, though. those are tough to overtake.

That is very dope but I thought all vaccination sites were not discriminating based on immigration status? I did a little work with the Vaccinate Abuela group earlier this year and that question came up a lot.

Yes, definitely a concern. It's good that they are stating it upfront.

Today is the anniversary of my brother's death and he loved Lou Malnati's, so I ordered myself a large thin crust spinach and sliced tomato pizza.

Thanks. It has been three years now, so it's not so bad. Instead of being all "Well, Vic's dead, so I may as well eat this entire pizza..." I'm like, "Hmm. What can I do to honor Vic? I'm gonna eat an entire pizza!"
And now I'm done with the pizza.

I had Nancy's for the first time the other night. I didn't realize it's as close to me as it is, and I didn't know they sold pizza by the slice. Now I'm thinking I'm going to get it for my brother's birthday on Monday. Lou Malnati's was his favorite, but I think he would appreciate me ordering a pizza from a place with the history that Nancy's has.

I grew up on Nancy's but I think it's the pizza chain that varies the most by location. I've had some dogshit Nancy's before

There was a Nancy’s way the fuck out west in Streamwood when I was a youngster, about 7-1/2 miles north of my childhood home. The distance meant it was “special treat” pizza compared to what we’d normally get on Saturday nights at the local joint in good ol’ West Chicago. I haven’t had Nancy’s in decades, but that was definitely one of the good ones.

Nancy’s in Mokena was pretty good when I was growing up. There are one or two in the city that are/seem good, too. Accordingly, I trust Nancy’s.

Okay, but how's the Nancy's on Broadway? That's the one that I went to and that I'll be ordering from should I order from a Nancy's on Monday.

It wasn't bad but there wasn't anything particularly memorable about it. Like dij said Nancy's has always depended on the spot

I was at Midway the other day and ordered a Veggie pizza at Home Run Inn. It was just a cheese pizza with some diced and cooked onions and peppers on top of it. I smiled and chuckled at how sad and pathetic it was.
