Chesney and Aldean are too big and just a total miss for the demographic. Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood are all theoretical possibilities but I'd say Eric Church is the only one I'd put at a probability chance. Not sure about that demographics wise... the bros love them some bro-country. Chris Stapleton would be interesting but maybe not headliner yet. Chris Stapleton is a bigger draw than any of those other than Chesney.

also calling Chesney and Aldean the same kind of bro country does give much insight to what you consider bro country

Friday night, tight jeans, drinking beer, pickup trucks etc.. yeah so maybe Chesney isn't true bro country. That would be Blake Shelton.

The Chesney demgraphic is the Buffet demographic but maybe 10 years younger. Jason Aldean is popular but on the downslope and nowhere near universal enough to headline a pop festival that only deviates for alt-rock.
Eric Church is a return performer with a rock-leaning demographic and cross over appeal. Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town and Carrie Underwood are all respected artists with crossover appeal and po hits. Not really what other headliner sized country acts would qualify.
Chris Stapleton is an obvious headliner choice with the only dilemma being I'd imagine his audience skews older than they'd want to risk

Sadly, I think Mumford and Sons will be there since they are playing Voodoo Fest this year.

I think The 1975 will be after their next album too. the 1975 are releasing two albums before the next Lollapalooza also i think Kaskade is our EDM act for next year because he was at the festival this year (and traditionally they have had the potential headliners come to the fest to check it out... also he's a Chicagoan)

Not questioning just curious, especially since Kaskade has played Lolla in the past. He did draw one of the biggest Coachella crowds to date, so I wouldn't be shocked despite his lack of mainstream hits.

Kaskade didn't headline in 2017 and he hasn't gotten any bigger. He's wasn't even in the first four lines

I forgot that we're on track for Disclosure to come off hiatus next year. They'll be in the top 8.

Chris Stapleton is an obvious headliner choice with the only dilemma being I'd imagine his audience skews older than they'd want to risk i saw him headline forecastle last month and the crowd seemed in line with who'd go to lolla - a lot of hammered under-25s, a smattering of yuppies, a few oldsters. i think he'd work for north stage.

At this point, I'd be happy if they get just two decent headliners and two decent subs. I don't even care if they oppose each other.
But since that won't happen, see ya'll at D4N.

I would've predicted Elton John for next year but then I forgot he's doing a UC show in the fall.

they had 4 ostensible rock darlings this year so i dont really see them totally shying away from it next year.
JT, Gambino, Florence, and whatever DJ is on top by March next year rounded out with QotSA, Tame Impala, Bon Iver, and Sturgill
seems like a pretty reasonable but perhaps too optimistic request

Seriously wondering: Jeff Lynne's ELO? i'm not a #young by any stretch but i feel like that's an expensive #1 that isn't gonna resonate with a lot of the current demographic. not to say dadrock is nonviable but i think you need a name that every kid immediately knows -- Paul, the Stones, Elton, Bruce, Billy, Fleetwood...GnR, Metallica, PJ, Foos, Green Day etc. ELO seems to be the "oh i didnt know they did THAT song" band for a lot of folks. but i'd be happy to be wrong.

They also didn’t headline Glasto I believe which seems like the place they’d headline. I don’t think they would be #1

I feel like D4N would book Jeff Lynne to do only Xanadu OST or something silly like that.
