My hotspot actually stopped working in the late afternoon today and I had to pay the $10 per day fee to Verizon to continue going about my business, it wasn’t great.

I am going to London and South Wales next month if anyone happens to have any recs Primrose Hill is pretty and has a nice view of the city. I liked The Mayflower Pub the last time I went. It's close to a museum with a cool drinking garden (which will be closed while you're there), which is why we went. The pub claims to be the oldest on the Thames, but prob the main draw is it's right next to the spot that the Mayflower left from before departing for the New World. Also, I love going to Bubblewrap in Chinatown.

Can’t put into words what an amazing country Japan is. I really wish I could move here. We’re only about a third of the way into our trip but I’m already dreading leaving. Been really enjoying your stories. Feels like you've been there for weeks.

Been really enjoying your stories. Feels like you've been there for weeks. Thank you. Feel like I’m posting too much sometimes but also who cares. Tomorrow is two weeks so yeah it has been a long time. We have a few more days. It has been the trip of a lifetime. Spent so much time logging Marriott points and saving up money to do this insane trip and it lived up to every expectation.

For real, I'm doing some hardcore vicarious living. Weirdly a few friends are there right now and my only suggestion from their posts is that it's strawberry season now and apparently their strawberries taste insane.
Also pls bring me (or at least try) all the natural sakes but esp Daigo no Shizuku from Terada Honke

I just realized today as I was filling out all the verification info for filing my taxes that I traveled to New Orleans and back last week on an expired license. It had been renewed I just never put the new one in my wallet but yea for TSA effectively doing their jobs.

Also: does anyone have dining recommendations for Philly? Taking Mrs. Doso to see The Cure for her birthday in June and looking to have a nice meal before the Saturday night show plus Sunday morning brunch. Preferably near downtown or along Broad Street between downtown and Wells Fargo Center.

even tho I've never been to any of the stores of the Old City Coffee Company in philly, I have to recommend it, as it was started in 1985 by my very close friend from college, the now mrs. treatman.
several years before then, I stayed at her then suburban home, we did stuff in downtown philly that night, and the next morning we drove across new jersey to a wedding in bayonne, for a couple who are still married today.

I guess Denver is now the 3rd busiest airport in the world?
1 Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) 2 Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) 3 Denver International Airport (DEN) 4 Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)

International air travel is still rebounding from the pandemic, particularly for lane pairings involving China.

We stopped in Pisa to see the tower on our trip, it was not very exciting and there did not seem to be much else in Pisa besides that. We stayed in a town not far from there called Livorno that is right on the coast, it was okay for a chill little town if you want to see the sea.

We were planning to spend a couple of weeks in Florence and Rome in 2020 and then the pandemic forced us to cancel. Didn’t get very far with planning but Il Latini (latinifirenze.com) was on the list.

Yeah, Livorno was a good little smaller-city life kind of city. The "beach" was pretty much all rocks there though, not sand. We waited too long to go find a restaurant, but we found this outdoor little sandwich stand, and it was a great little relaxed dinner outside.

The best day trip I did near Florence was truffle hunting with dogs on a little farm/vineyard/olive orchard. Beautiful hike through their forests and then they prepared a lunch for us with all the farm products and freshly made pasta with mounds of truffles shaved on it and we drank their wine and chatted for hours. I still keep in touch with them.
Ravenna is on my list for when I go back, really want to see the mosaics. And Modena to eat everything and bring back all the aged balsamic.

I just realized today as I was filling out all the verification info for filing my taxes that I traveled to New Orleans and back last week on an expired license. It had been renewed I just never put the new one in my wallet but yea for TSA effectively doing their jobs. Trip report on NOLA, plz. I can't do a write-up as detailed as yours. I hadn't been to NOLA in 15 years and my wife hadn't been in even longer so we did a lot of touristy thing. River cruise. Ghost tour. Cemetery tour. Garden district tour. Lots of wondering around the Quarter looking at menus and finding interesting places to eat. An Italian restaurant called Mona Lisa in the Quarter was great. Whole place is decorated in Mona Lisa take-offs and inspired art. Saw lots of great street musicians. My only regret is not finding out until the last show of our last night there that Preservation Hall has a stand-by line. We got aced out of making it in because a group of 8 people from the NFL showed up but we would have made it in for any other show the three nights we were there. And we didn't spend more time than walking down Bourbon one night but it was decidedly different than when I was there 15 years ago. Much more generic and lacking character. It was never the bastion of interesting but at least each bar was somewhat unique. Now they are all the same and there are countless places pushing pizza and frozen drinks in more flavors than every necessary. Reminded me of what has happened to Wrigleyville over the last decade or two.

That’s a good tip about the Hall - I didn’t know about standby, either. Thanks for the writeup!

Bachelor party this past weekend in Kentucky was pretty phenomenal. Dude who planned it did a terrific job - only negative was maybe the food options at night, but I'm not going to fault him for being unable to find too many restaurants willing to accommodate 18 people.
Highlights:
- Distillery bus tour went through the Bardstown area. Heaven Hill was surprisingly terrific - really thorough tour and plenty of tastings. The newer ones were more of a pay as you go option. - Being able to go into the Winner's Circle and onto the track at Keeneland was once in a lifetime experience. - Drunkenly recommending The Walkmen "Lisbon" to a bunch of folks 5-10 years younger than me who had somehow never even heard of the band.

I would like to do a bus tour next time I do the bourbon trail. Sounds so much easier.
kb and I did a little booze touring ourselves this weekend, good times were had! I think I liked Journeyman the best of our stops in terms of drinks but Tabor Hill and Round Barn were both very pretty to visit.

Many years ago, mrs ten15 and I were at a Tabor Hill winery event where there was a grape stomping competition. We were quite a bit overserved, and for years afterword, the rally cry of "Clear the hole!" was frequently exclaimed.

What ever happened to 8-9 am flights? It feels like every flight I take is either 6am or 2pm now.
