Peppi's is another amazing sandwich place in Pittsburgh (better than Primanti's for my money but the latter is more famous).
Walking around Squirrel Hill is always nice, I'd especially recommend swinging by Jerry's Record Shop. That place is an absolute gem. Check the concert listings for Mr. Small's - that's my favorite venue in the city.

That place is an absolute gem. i cannot even estimate how much time i spent at jerry's while in college. it had a huge impact on how i learned about a lot of older music. i don't think i ever bought anything there that was released past, like, 1988.

Looking to go somewhere warm end of February/early March especially since I got a bunch of super point specials from Southwest. San Diego/Austin/Tampa are the favorites since the gf has been to none of those

Looking to go somewhere warm end of February/early March especially since I got a bunch of super point specials from Southwest. San Diego/Austin/Tampa are the favorites since the gf has been to none of those San Diego will probably have the best weather around then and its a pretty great city. That being said summer is the ideal time to hit San Diego. Austin is also fun and I feel like you would enjoy it a lot but be very aware of when SXSW starts. SXSW is fun but its also incredibly busy and if you are just going for the city and not for the events you will not have near as good a time. I know nothing about Tampa but I feel like it probably isn't as great as the other two

We're going to need to be out of the house due to some basement renovations this Spring/Summer, and I'm trying to plan a road trip that wouldn't be just a straight shot to Chicago/Kentucky and back, but still doesn't add an obscene amount of time to our overall drive.
So far I've got:
Rapid City > Sioux Falls > Minneapolis > Madison > Chicago > Louisville > St Louis > KC > Home
It's staggered so we won't have to spend too much time in the car. No idea if this is too ambitious for a drive with a toddler and a dog.

Stop in Nashville, tell 'em Neader sent ya! Also gotta include Fat Sal's in LA if we're talking about fries on sandwiches. It is also partly owned by Turtle from Entourage. As you can imagine, I loved this place. Typical sandwich

I'd love to stop in Nashville, but it takes us too far out of the way.
I was showing my wife the list I put together, and it initially included Indianapolis. "I'm good with everything but Indy. I'd nix Indy."

I'd nix Indy." When our daughter was like 1, we split the drive up to NJ over 3 days, since we had no idea how she'd handle it. We were only driving roughly 4 hours per day. She could have handled a muuuuch longer drive each day. So you might want to take that into account. Driving with the dog, on the other hand, might complicate that quite a bit. Wilco goes like 6 hours between pee breaks, so he could probably handle a long drive too. We haven't tried with him yet though.

That should make it a little more doable.
