My friend and I are going to the Massive Attack show in Detroit and are thinking of booking an AirBnb and hanging in the city the day before. What neighborhood(s) should we stay in and/or check out?

Midtown. Corktown is my favorite but Midtown has more to do and would be better to stay in.
If you want more recs, let me know.

Japan from January 29th to February 8th- Tokyo, Okuhida, Kanazawa, and Kyoto (for fun) Anchorage, Alaska from February 11th to March 3rd (for work) Oakland, CA from March 18 to March 21 (for work) Chicago from March 21 to March 24 (for fun, Massive Attack show) Los Angeles from April 1st to April 26th, and May 6 to May 10 (for work) Orlando/Disney World from May 15 to May 20th (for fun) I'mma be a bit busy this first half of the year
The LA trip isn't straight unless I want it to be, have options to fly home on those weekends. But I'm gonna stay at least 1-2 of those weekends if not the whole time. Was also considering stopping over to Denver one weekend on that trip and catching Spiritualized plus checking the city out

Alaska's a bucket list spot. Most of my friends/family that travel for work are stuck going to boring spots, so that's a really nice itinerary.

My wife and I are starting to talk about plans for our tenth anniversary later this year - we're going to have family come in and watch our daughter and the former lead singer of Journey while we go on a trip. We haven't been to New Orleans together, so that's one of the spots we're considering. Also in the running: San Francisco, Seattle, Austin. Basically anyplace with nice weather in late October or November.

New Orleans in the fall is nice unless it's rainy.
Also, LoT, you should see if you can see some northern lights when you're in Alaska.

was gonna comment on anchorage but looks like the weather there is nicer than here lmao I almost got sent to Fairbanks which would have been miserable. A few of my coworkers will be there while I'm in Anchorage
granted it would have been the best view of the northern lights which would have been cool but then three straight weeks there woof

People, I'm looking to fly into Venice and then return from Rome this July. What kinda rate should I be looking for? Right now, the best rates are about $1005. Is that the best I'm gonna do, or will they drop lower?

Is that the best I'm gonna do, or will they drop lower? $1,000 for a trans-atlantic flight to italy during peak season seems good. if you're going on basic economy, it could probably go lower. but it could also skyrocket if you wait a month. put a tracker on it and see how it goes. you never know with these things.

It’s been years since I went but I flew into Venice and out of Milan via Zurich and it was definitely not $1000+. This was in July

I mean, it'd definitely be cheaper if I were just flying within Europe, but there's that whole ocean that I have to cross. Plans might have just changed to RT to Rome from ORD, though, and that's less than $800. Prob gonna do that.

I think his point was it's considerably cheaper to fly to someplace like Reykjavik first and then connect to Venice or Rome. But that adds a stop. Personally I'd just take a train from Rome.

This is what I meant. When I went to Europe I flew out of Toronto, it was $600 round trip from Toronto to London and only like a 6 hour bus ride. Plus, I got to explore Toronto for a few days!

Goddamn. At that price it'd be cheaper for me to fly to Chicago then London than just direct Houston to London

I guess Denver is going to be adding more international flights with the revamp of the terminals and security, so hopefully that means lower prices. Right now not a whole lot of options for direct flights to Europe.
If you haven't been through DIA in a while, security is being moved to another level of the airport while the current security area is going to be opened up for more pop-up events (beer festivals that you can attend or European food market type stalls).

Speaking of cheap travel, I originally had planned to travel to London this year before switching up my plan to go to Japan. Houston to London direct usually runs $600-800. Was going to book it on miles through United, which would have cost me 60k miles
When I decided to do Japan instead, that United direct flight Houston to Tokyo was running about $1800. But it was only 70k miles. So 10k more miles for a $1000 more expensive flight.
Feel like I came out pretty good. Gonna do London in 2020 now (that was basically my starting point for a Europe trip) and just use my Chase reward points.

Does anyone have a restaurant to recommend in Baltimore, ideally not far from the Harbour area?
