Ugh last time I flew AA they gave me a voucher to be bumped to a later flight. I just went to redeem it and it couldn’t be used online - I had to actually book over the phone. THEN they told me I have to MAIL to voucher in and they hold my seats for me until they receive it... Why is this so complicated in 2019 lol

Because they don’t want you to use it so they can charge you

Yeah. I love getting those tho. That's how my Euro trip was like $200 roundtrip.

Japan is ridiculously awesome and I'd recommend it to anyone. Had so much fun on that trip.
And now I'm in Anchorage and this is actually a really cool city. It's beautiful, it's a nice size (doesn't take long to get anywhere), surprisingly a really great food city, and tons of fun outdoor stuff. Also seeing this much snow is new to me and I've been enjoying it.
Fun travels

Anybody have any opinions on Away luggage? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on the bigger carry on but I normally don't like hard case bags. Seems like it's pretty big without being too big, though.

She could have been trying to sell you luggage.

She could have been trying to sell you luggage. And if YOU get two of YOUR friends to sell luggage...

Seems like it's pretty big without being too big, though. Most of what I've read is that they're expensive for what they are. I looked at them for a bit last year when I was looking to get a carry on and ended up with a Samsonite that cost less and that I like a lot more.

I just got a new Samsonite hard case yesterday. I thought it seemed a lot bigger than my current checked bag but they're actually about the same size *shrug emoji* it is a bit deeper though.

starting to finally hash out my Brussels trip in April. Right now thinking of just splitting the time between Brussels and Amsterdam. Might add Bruges or Antwerp, but TBD if I get more people to come along and what their two cents are.
is there any must see's or do's in any of those cities? I am just keeping a running spreadsheet right now to get ideas thrown at a wall and to see what sticks later. Going to Cantillon is my only requirement in Brussels

Btw if you guys ever get to Baltimore, make sure to check out George Peabody's "Cathedral of books" library in the Mount Vernon's historic district. It is truly stunning (judge it by yourself)

On another note, has anyone been to Pamukkale in Turkey?
(we are envisaging more and more to tag a trip to that area on our way to Central Asia in May)

I'm sure everyone was on the edge of their seat for this, but we're gonna do San Francisco for the 10 year anniversary extravaganza. First trip my wife and I took as a couple was to San Francisco, so it won out over the other choices.
I think we're going to do Vancouver in early 2020 and bring a family member along to watch the kiddo, so we'll get to visit two of our options soon.

It's basically an area of Epcot with better beer. I dug Brussels enough but its not a thrilling place. Antwerp was pretty cool.

also please go to sam lagrassa's for a sandwich its a little hokey but omg starred. which kinda leads me to another general question, outside of the official travel thread what sites do people typically use for finding things to do and eat when they travel? are they useful? i feel like yelp, google maps, thrillist, eater, etc. are all kinda trash. to go back to this want to throw in www.theinfatuation.com. by far the most helpful site i've come across, up there with eater.

Some of them are from Arizona and Florida, most of them don’t know how to mute their mics on a teleconference, one woman ate breakfast on a hot mic while we all listened. I’m almost certain I don’t want to spend the whole time rubbing shoulders with them. Turns out the Arizona crowd was really nice and the woman who ate breakfast on a hot mic was cool. I was the only dude in this training and the youngest by far but, as always, was very easily adopted into the 40+ year old divorced wine mom crowd. I passed judgement too early.

Btw, re: Montreal recs, Mile End (just a few streets North of Plateau Mont-Royal) is also a pretty cool neighbourhood, and for sure the best place to get bagels
And if you guys like spectacular churches, I'd recommend both the Notre-Dame Basilica in Old Montreal (which also feature a nice light and sound show), and Oratoire St. Joseph on top of Mount Royal (which brings together actually 3 or 4 churches in one compound, both old ones and modern ones, and from the top of which the view of the city is stunning)

And just on the opposite side of the street, there is a very old church, as well as the George Washington obelisque - so definitely worth dropping by that neighbourhood, which is actually really central. Generally speaking I was really impressed by the city's architecture
