RIP to Boss - the first female MC signed to Def Jam back in the day. Came across her story when reading Clover Hope's indispensable The Motherlode. But more importantly, she ruled. Do give this one a listen if you're unfamiliar. Boss was only 54. Also, not many album covers go harder than this:

Former NFL cornerback Vontae Davis. Just 35. Wow, that is brutal news. Lived in the same dorm as him freshman year and he was a genuinely nice guy. Played Madden with him and got my ass kicked.

I still remember the network that night going back and forth between the white Bronco car chase and the NBA playoffs.

I know he was an important figure but I really don't think Biden should be lowering the flags to half mast for him

"OJ Simpson's lawyers say they don't want the families of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman in the courtroom during the trial. They're afraid the presence of the family members will just remind OJ of how much more killing he still has to do."

Everyone always wants to have a solo career. So a couple of years after the original Allman bros initially broke up, Wash U booked both the Gregg Allman Band and their opener, the Dickey Betts Band in the quadrangle in the middle of finals week. After their respective sets, of course the bands played together.

Fuck. I knew he had been in poor health for a while, but I was always hoping I'd get to see him one day. RIP to an absolute titan, co-creator of some of the most beautiful guitar music ever made. I'll be rocking "Blue Sky" all afternoon - hands-down my favorite guitar song of all time.

Was lifting to this today in Dickey's honor:
Also thinking about the video where Deaner says Maggot Brain and Blue Sky are the two solos he's ripped off for his entire career.
RIP, glad nana got to see him at Wash U.

Allman Bros in Tinley for 1997 Farm Aid concert
