Courtney Barnett and War on Drugs were side stage headliners last year. Mitski would not be a headliner. doesn't mean anything besides they can (and would) pair mitski with a strong side stage headliner. also, it changes every year. is beach house or fka twigs definitively a bigger draw than the war on drugs? |

It would also be extremely weird timing for a Mitski headlining performance. After a full year of touring of Be the Cowboy, 8th Chicago show in 3 years, etc.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if she was a headliner after her next album though.

Fleet foxes sold out 2 nights at the Chicago theatre
Lauryn Hill played northerly island, no idea how it sold
I suppose mitski could headline in the sense of a “say goodbye” type of headlining spot like chance and Kendrick played but given the above I feel like that won’t happen
I also don’t think frank ocean is too big to play this fest, there’s enough people out there who don’t read pitchfork that have no idea who he is

Y'all know that P4k is kinda well known for booking headliners on off years or after tours? Chance, Kendrick, LCD.The list goes on. Chance had that Social Experiment album come out that year. And booking established huge acts like Kendrick and LCD on their off years is much more of a unique "get" than a headlining performance by Mitski after a heavy touring year where she's billed 7th on her day at Gov Ball. |
