Every single set I saw yesterday completely ripped. Big highlights were the mud pit at Black Midi (my shoes washed out alright last night but RIP to the Ziggy Stardust shirt), the chaotic mosh for Peggy, being center rail for Amen Dunes (and grabbing a setlist!), and of course a lovely wine-fueled, Robyn-hosted dance party. Thanks to all y’all for a fabulous weekend!

Best Early Act - Black Midi (HM: Ric Wilson) Best Mid Tier Act - Does Belle & Sebastian count? If not then Amen Dunes. Best Headliner - Robyn Best Change To The Fest - Using credit cards for the drink lines came in handy on Sunday night Worst Change To The Fest - Not booking a token anthemic pop-punk / emo-punk band a la Japandroids / Jeff Rosenstock / Hotelier Best Food/Drink Purchase: CHURRO SANDWICH Best Merch Purchase - My $10 Uncle Sam Pitchfork shirt from the artist tents Worst Food/Drink Purchase - When Svedka ran out of rose slushies on Friday Act Most Likely To Disappear - Just going off people I saw - either Flasher or MIKE Act Most Likely To Blow Up - Rico Nasty / Ibeyi Most Disappointing Act - Sky Ferreira (tho I still had fun when things were functioning) Best Party of the Weekend - All due respects to the Robyn danceparty - it just has to be the Black Midi mudpit Best Time to give into your heatstroke - At Dunkin' Donuts during the rain delay Best Wake Up Call - What's this one mean? Best opening act? Gotta be the GBME. Best Surprise Find - Ibeyi - one of the few artists I saw without much prior familiarity. They were fantastic. Best College Déjà vu - Hahaha will it make y'all feel old if I say Parquet Courts? Best Crowd - Parquet Courts pit was a little friendlier than the Black Midi pit Worst Crowd - Specifically, the dude I had to ask to stop talking during "Fox In The Snow" Best Comeback - STEREOLAB Best Cover - Lala Lala doing "Slip Away" Best Looking/Best Dressed - I really want the Lala Lala sky-blue pants Underrated Act - The Lala Lala > Ric Wilson > CHAI was a great stretch that I had middling expectations for Overrated Act - Pusha T - don't get me wrong, I had a blast at his set, but I really don't fuck with the 15-minute DJ prelude thing Best Crowd Banter - Peggy Act Most Likely To Play Pitchfork 2020 - Prolly someone they cancelled, no? I'd like to see Amber Mark back. Best non-musical activity - Meeting hella board members / Also, taking hell free stuff from the record fair Hope to do it all again next year! Edit: Lmao my new flights got delayed again and now I don't get into Newark until 12:30am fuuuuck everything

In that case, my biggest like "oh shit it's about to get lit" moment of the weekend was when I looked over at Ric Wilson soundchecking and saw a mf'in TUBA on-stage

really lovely time seeing everyone and meeting some of the new board faces! im actually really glad we went all 3 days from start to finish. a really great stretch of music and friends for all 3 days. it really helped that the fest didnt sell super well because my biggest complaint with p4k is how poorly it handles big crowds and long lines, which was never a problem this time.
-seeing xam and mrs xam on thursday was a pleasant surprise and delight!
-cumin brunch with the xams was perfect until i felt like death in the 100+ degree weather. whoops.
-rico nasty on friday was wild. -sky was a trainwreck and i dont think lack of rehearsal is a fair enough justification for constantly fucking up songs from 5 years ago. -earl was good. -pusha was great. -mavis killllllled it. -low did a lot of their louder/heavier stuff which was great cause i was worried it'd be sleepy. -uhhh HAIM fucking ruled so hard -- like they're always great live but they're on a new level now. shit had us both jumping and screaming the whole time. 11/10
-hollywood diner was a much better brunch choice saturday.
-oh my god CHAI was the shit. like legit one of the best rock acts p4k has booked that isnt a headliner ever. (also i think calling them or any japanese female band "adorable" is kinda racist and sexist? idk it's creepy at the least) -never heard of Cate Le Bon before but i actually really dug a lot of her stuff! -Parquet Courts were Parquet Courts. idk im fine with the fact that we went poster shopping for most of their set and met the dudes who make the Psycho posters and a lot of the NIN and QotSA posters -uhh we sprinted for Bottom Lounge for the evacuation but got pinned against the door when the rain hit and BL basically told everyone to fuck off and not even standing near the awning which i thought was shitty. we went with bryn to mcdonald's and discussed David Crosby over chicken nuggets -Stereolab was much more jammy and same-ish from what i expected. i liked it but was surprised how much they kinda just dug their heels into the same hook over and over. it was fun tho given the circumstances -B&S is still not my thing at all. last 15 minutes of their set was fun tho -Isleys were good but as everyone noted, the weird 20 minute lull in the middle of the set kinda flubbed the pacing of our dance party
-breakfast house was nice but also we definitely brought too much booze for the 4 or 5 of us that actually drank
-uhhh black midi was amazing. thank you to whoever recommended them to me i cant remember who all it was! -jpegmafia also blew us away. i knew his stuff going in but definitely wasnt expecting that intensity. fucking hell -ibeyi sounded great but i had to miss way more of their set than i wanted to because of some weird conversation that we all got roped into that lasted most of their set -khruangbin does sound like my kinda thing and seemed to be putting on a good show but boy does instrumental music in the midday sun just invite every fucker at the festival to start yapping away. got fed up with a group that forced their way right in front of us just to take selfies and gossip and left -amen dunes was good (as always? p sure ive seen them a few times at fests) -whitney did very little for me which is weird cause i really like them but i guess i just didnt feel any energy from them or the crowd -neneh cherry was a blast. upset i missed her like 5 years ago now but hey at least i caught this set and shit was wiiiiiild -okay i honestly dont get charli xcx. it was okay but even the songs i did know didnt really get me excited at all. thought the live show might change my mind but nah -robyn was absolutely everything i had hoped for my first time seeing her. just the gayest, bumpiest, brightest romp ever. perfection
K THAT'S ALL I GOT LOVE YOU ALL GOING BACK TO BED BYE
