I've been purposely avoiding the album to see if when I revisit it I still enjoy it as much as I did last week. Been tempted a few times to listen. I played it non-stop for a week.

It’s surprising to me that you find this album super tolerable but Clementine to be unlistenable, but I guess some would flip that and say the same about me.

I think part of the problem with Clementine is that I don't really care for his voice much. I certainly wouldn't say it is unlistenable. I think it was too experimental jazz-y for me. The elements with KK are a little more familiar to me. Also, I am not even half way through - so things could change. At the half way point with Clementine, I was more positive than I was by the end. *shrug* |

Fair enough. His voice is entirely the appeal for me (the Carnegie show I saw a few weeks ago might be the best vocal performance I've ever seen).

I didn't mind the vocals on Clementine's record, what I didn't care for was the jazzier tracks. I care less and less about instrument experimentation these days. Even in seeing Deerhunter earlier this year, I was bored with their improvisation during Nothing Ever Happened.
