Have you seen Caroline Rose? Super poppy rock. Not very psychedelic, imo. Top 3 set for me this year. Also, No Age not cracking the top 50 is a crime. Shame.
Thanks as always, Tim! Great jerb!

@timbo does your historical data only go back to 2011? I feel like Nouns and Everything In Between were pretty popular here and would be surprised if they totally missed the board's list those years

Solid list - thanks Tim!
My biggest shock tho is finding out y'all didn't have a spot for WORRY in your 2016 year end list. For shame!

I think only UA and rango were talking about him before he played P4k. That’s the first time I listened to him, and going back I would put Worry pretty high on my list for that year.

right. I think without that caveat it gives the wrong idea to say those acts have never ranked here

I like Arctic Monkeys but it is wild that #31 is the LOWEST they have ever placed.

Related, I also think the Archandroid probably ranked pretty high for whatever year that was.

Really thought Parquet Courts would run away with this easily. Very cool list.
Thanks Tim!

Mookie tried his best to gather all of the lists before the great migration of 2017. I'm pretty sure No Age, Janelle Monae, and others would have cracked our lists, but those are gone now. We must start anew.
I think this list is more divisive than last years. It would appear this is becoming less of a fun thing to do since we have fewer and fewer lists each year. Maybe this will be the last!

I think it's still fun (though I totally understand if you feel it's not worth it, since you're the one putting in all the work.)
I sometimes think the result would be better if only the top 20 from everyone was counted, so the albums people felt most passionately about got the most recognition.

gotta be the first time the board list has had majority female artists in the top 10.
very shocked that beach house got #1 but hey we've been trying for years. shame the worst parquet courts album is the one that somehow cracks the top 5.

also sort of feels like almost no one listened to the kurt vile or jeff tweedy albums, weird that they're outside the top 50.

I didn't get a list in - not a very good year for new music for me. I'm going to check out the stuff I missed from this list. Surprised to see Beach House at number one, tbh.

Triple post, and not that it matters at this point, but I'd probably put Lucy Dacus, boygenius, Caroline Rose, Young Fathers and Joey Purp as my top 5.

That Joey Purp record fucking rules. I understand this makes me sound so white but he really does drop some insane bars on it

SABA ranking so low is weird to me too, seemed like a very board friendly album to me

For what it's worth, not submitting a list this year was not in any way my intention or something I plan to repeat.
On the other hand, my lists drag the end total irrevocably towards boring white guitar guys, so maybe I shouldn't.

I kinda like the idea of doing only 20. Maybe even 10. Might make it easier for people to do it.
