Strike in 94 with the White Sox in 1st place and the best record in the AL was worse. So was Ventura leaving, but yeah this sucks.

Would you guys really have wanted him for 10 years? Yikes. He has limited plate discipline as it is so once his bat speed slows down he's going to be really gross.

It's not my money, and not unrealistic to think he uses the opt out after 5. So yeah, I would have been fine with that deal. the White Sox need some legit stars, of which they have zero right now. |

I'm surprised the final number ended up being 300mil, and I'm not surprised that the Sox didn't match that. I would've been thrilled if they did, but that's quite the jump from the 240-50 number of those initial offers.
