Every time I see a new post in this thread, I assume Machado signed with the Phillies

Trevor Bauer harassed a college student on Twitter after she said he was her least favorite player. 80 mentions in 24 hours. Sounds like a stable dude.

Market might be shaping up a bit. Shelby miller to the Rangers, Tim Beckham to the Mariners, Dozier to the Nationals.

Practically every deal signed this offseason has been for 1-2 years. Two of the most marquee players in the league on the right side of 30 are drawing minimal interest. Unless something dramatically changes, there's going to be a strike in 2021.

Unless something dramatically changes, there's going to be a strike in 2021. The union negotiated a terrible deal on the last CBA. I also expect massive changes before another is signed. 6 years (really 7 the way teams game the system) is way too long for a player to reach free agency.

1.) I'm fully onboard the Cleveland should trade Trevor Bauer train
2.) I'm fully preparing for a 2021 lockout

Jed Lowrie to the Mets, 2/20.

I wish the Sox did that instead of trading a decent prospect for the right to pay Yonder Alonso 2/17.

You’re the first person I’ve heard describe Call as a decent prospect.

"Decent" as in he can probably make a major league roster.

I was also under the impression he was basically a throwaway prospect.
I didn't like the Alonso trade at the time but after the Jay signing I believe it was at least partially motivated by the idea that Manny would want to play alongside his BIL. If we end up signing him, it was the right move. If not, well, at least Hahn got creative.

Lemahieu to the Yankees, 2/24. Assume that officially takes them out of the Manny race.

Just came here to post that. I hope the White Sox actually make a good offer. Reports I've been seeing have been all over the place.
Twitter is stressing me out.

Same, I didn't want to give myself hope they would land either of the two big FAs but I can't help it now. I just want to know the outcome already.

I highly doubt the Lemahieu signing takes them out of the Machado race. They can/should trade Andujar and play Manny at 3rd.
Also there's still a bunch of question marks over the next couple years anyway. Outside of one year, Lamahieu has never been good offensively and is turning 31, Gleyber is still only 22, Tulo is ass, Didi is coming off major surgery, etc.

I'm as big of a skeptic as the next guy, but if every baseball insider is saying the Yankees are out, I believe it.

Lemahieu to the Yankees, 2/24. Assume that officially takes them out of the Manny race. Lemahieu is a criminally underrated ballplayer

He is an excellent fielding second baseman though. The Yankees say that he will be playing first, second, and third. At $12 million a year, that makes no sense to me.

He's been a 3 win player for the last few years, so even if they use him part time and as insurance, it's not a ton of risk. $12mm is kind of nothing, especially for the Yankees

Using him at first base is Ian Desmond-level stupid.
