That thread is wild. I'm not sure how I feel about the negative OP but the Google review bombing is 100% shitty.

OP is maybe questionable but not fucked - I think the restaurant's response made it postworthy.
Google bombing the reviews is fucked.
The owners posting 5 star reviews, also fucked.

It is absolutely psychotic to harass a restaurant by Instagram DM for two days during their soft opening and I have a personal vendetta against one of the owners.

If you don’t think you should pay for 3 oysters tell them when they drop the check. If nobody has taken your order say something and walk out. The Reddit food community is the dumbest non political subset in the world and that includes r/magacucks and r/Lollapalooza or whatever.
The just random Transphobia is a cherry on top

Know nothing about the head chef as a person but there are multiple highly upvoted comments that they are transitioning to “potentially avoid allegations” which is an insanely cruel thing to say about someone, especially a place that is very clearly staffed by a seemingly majority trans FOH. Makes you wonder about all of the “staff is unfriendly” and “clearly hiring their party friends” comments as well.

My Vendetta is not that interesting other than everyone who works in the food industry is a piece of shit and that includes people who were personally bad to me at said spot and have no vested interest in the restaurant staying open other than that the food is very good.
I did tell Krentist when we ate there that I bet they find a way to cut the space in half and still believe that’s probably the main issue from a service stand point (and why have oysters on the menu at a soft opening?)

If nobody has taken your order say something and walk out. the better half and I walked out of frasca pizzeria one weekend day, at the better half's insistence, and without saying something, because no one came to the table to take our order (the place had been previously praised by former lolla boarder reedeeda and others); still haven't gone back even tho it's walking distance for us.

Frasca is mediocre like all of 4 Star Restaurant Group's restaurants, but it's convenient and family friendly so we still frequent them & Crosby's a few times a year.

Without knowing the chef is trans that comment read like fairly run of the mill industry sketchiness so I appreciate the background.

I am problematic too you don't see me being crucified on reddit. I think the original poster is a Karen but it seems easy enough to not get into it with people in the DMs from the business account if you fucked up their meal. Not a huge deal imo, my experience on Sunday wasn't like this at all. Want to say they were pretty efficient with our meal.. maybe out in an hour twenty? It's a soft opening, shit happens. LEAVE ME ALONE Karen Bells.

Went again last night since the gf never experienced CMJ in its prime and wanted to try their burger. Was basically empty lol but again the meal was reasonably efficient and very tasty. our bill was like $50 total. I have no idea if reddit did them in or not. They are starting brunch soon which as a meal tends to attract the most clueless restaurant patrons so maybe Chad and Becky who are blissfully unaware of the reddit thread will keep the joint afloat until the groupthink subsides.

Breakfast sandwich special at Tempesta today was pretty OTT but delish. French toast, bacon, sausage, egg and cheese. I only managed half.
Making stock from our Thanksgiving chicken carcass and the house smells amazing.
Any suggestions for a cozy, dare I say romantic dinner? Was thinking Bavette's.

Went to attagirl last night and got the burger with fries. Both were incredible. Service was great but can't imagine they'll ever be more than 75% full at any time.
Breakfast burrito from Big Kids this morning was fine.
Le Bouchon rips hope you enjoy it.

alady, my beloved cold peanut noodle salad from Bill Kim in time out market. it was flawless, perfect, chef's kiss before. Now they added a super dark spicy paste sauce type thing on it that in theory is good but detracts.

Went to Warlord last night and it was pretty incredible! Waited about 45 minutes before they opened and were 13+14 in line. We didn’t request anything (unlike the couple behind us in line), but they sat us at the chefs table which was super cool to see! Probably the closest I’ll get to a real life season 2 finale of The Bear experience, without all the chaos! Had a sherry tonic which was dill infused and absolutely killer! Then we got their take on a cheese board which was great and we added the foie which amped it up even more. The burger though was the star! My gf and I have tried a lot of the big burger spots this year and it might take the prize! It’s juicy and incredible, we even contemplated ordering a second. Got some fries too, every single one was super crispy which I loved. My only complaint was they were a bit overly salted/seasoned. Finally got the Angel hair which was also amazing! A very mysterious place but a perfect first time there!

finally got to monteverde saturday, didn't disappoint. faves were the mozz shooter with giardiniera tomato dashi, sicilian tuna crudo and the $89 ragu which is an absolutely monstrously large dish but i will be dreaming about it for the foreseeable future. the meatballs were to die for.

I usually just do takeout - Xoco is typically my pick, but they're closed on Mondays.

if you are on an expense account, go to luke's lobster at 134 N. LaSalle for a lobster sandwich. silk road, at 19 s. lasalle, is a chinese restaurant that uses korean spices to make their signature spicy (and fiery) chicken dish. otherwise, one of the many starbucks locations near wacker and wells should be okay.
I always forget that catch 35, at 35 w. wacker (it's an excellent restaurant) is near there, because I try not to remember the place where I had dinner w/ the woman who I later encountered at the art gallery which resulted in the donna summer incident.
